Not to be negative or anything, but i wouldn't hold my breath. I am not even certain at this juncture that Palm will be accomodated, since it seems to be all but dead.

| Posted: | | | | I'd like to see this also. I can't justify a separate PDA just for DVDP when my Symbian phone does everything that a PDA can do bar DVDP. Skip, lets let Ken comment on whether this is likely or not shall we as only he knows. | | | Andy

But I don't know if Ken has the manpower to programme for symbian, macintosh, linux, ubuntu etc. The precondition for those requests could only be a kind of open source project! | | | Thorsten |

Skip, lets let Ken comment on whether this is likely or not shall we as only he knows. True enough, Lopek. But if you aren't intelligent enough to figure that all OS' cannot be supported and Symbian is a loooong way for mainstream (using Kahless' words) then I can't help you. Oh I forgot you have the miraculous ability to divine another users trhoughts based on nothing more than a few words. There are some thing which I give users credit for having enough common sense to understand. Golly maybe we should support OS2 and TRSDOS while we are at it. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | I would say that 100 million Symbian devices, with support and devices from all of the major Mobile Phone Manufacturers makes it pretty mainstream. Remember that that mobile market is very different in Europe and the Far East than it is in the US. I don't believe I ever said anything about "all OS'" should be supported. I did not ever say that i think Symbian should be supported - just that I would like to see it. | | | Andy

| Posted: | | | | I prefer to have separate PDA, MP3 player/iPod and cell phone rather than one multi-function device. That way if something breaks (PDA, iPod or cell) I'm not without all devices. That's one of the main reasons I'm not interested in the iPhone. No single point of error for me. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I can remember when I used to hear the same thing about Beta. Oh...well it's Number 1 in the world....BIG DEAL. The largest consumer market is the United States, like it or not, and if it can't make it here, to paraphrase an old song, it won't make it anywhere. Per mit me to remind that Beta is DEAD. 100 Million Symbian devices is a drop in the bucket.
Sorry guy and gals, that is reality. Itl;s cold and its hard but it is true.

Are you sure about that? Quote: Singapore-based Canalys senior analyst Rachel Lashford. “Shipment volumes of Motorola’s Linux smart phones in Asia, particularly China, still significantly overshadow those of its Windows Mobile ‘Q’ in North America.” |

| Posted: | | | | I have seen no statistical data that would indicate anything else...yet. Though China will probably overshadow the US market within the next decade, according to the US State Department.

| Posted: | | | | Very good, John. except for one small problem. Your data is a trifle stilted especially the second one. I never said that Symbian might not be a player in the rest of world, Beta was TOO once upon a time. I said they are NOT a major player in the US market. As of this moment they still have to conquer the US, and if they cannot then thay are likely to join Beta. You guys are truly hysterically funny. And as I said, 100 million is a DROP on the bucket. Sadly, even PalmOS is a dying breed.

| Posted: | | | | Sorry Skip. I forgot that you are always right and the rest of the world is always wrong. How silly of me. Guess you have put me in my place.
Skip is wrong, as usual. End of discussion.
Excuse me, I have to stop the people laughing who are reading your comments over my shoulder. | | | Last edited: by johnd |

| Posted: | | | | Hey I will gladly rip the US where its necessary, our Auto manufacturing is in shamble larly because of the seed of self-destruction that were sown YEARS ago. Your problem is that you seem to thin I am being natinalistic, and that is not true, simple statements of fact, and business observations made over the course of my lifetime. I am sure the rest of the world was very upset about the death of Beta, but it was predictable. You need to wake up and smell the coffee and stop trying to read things that I am NOT saying.
Also, as I said the US State Dept says that China will overtake the US sometime within the next decade, based on my own knowledge on the subject I think it will be around 2012. They have the potential to totally dominate the world economically, but befoire they can do that they still have a lot ot do to build up their own economic system.
In fact, john, if I had to guess , I would suspect that the IPhone stands a better chance of getting supported....but it is way too early to tell on that just yet.
Sheesh. You guys are something else, you are willing to attack and bitch about ANYTHING, john.
Get a grip, dude.
