I'm going through my DVD collection to get it all as correct as possible. When inserting the discs of Farscape season 2, I find Disc 10 to show up as "Farscape Box Set 2.5". Yes, it is PART OF Box 2.5, but it is NOT Box 2.5. Disc-ID is: "FARSCAPE_DISC10 576F4B0486D29FC1" and I'd happily correct it myself if I only knew how. Oh, by the way: The picture is also wrong: It shows the box cover and not the DVD disc cover.

Not sure what you mean, they were issued as box sets, not single discs. The disc is part of box set 2.5 because it's one of the two discs in that box set. If there is a child profile with the same disc id, it is because child profiles are not mandatory for tv series so the same information goes into both profiles.

That is correct, but my point is the following: If I insert disc 2.09 (for instance) it identifies as "Farscape: Volume 2.9". If I insert the problem one, I get it back from the central database as "Farscape Box Set 2.5" and refuses to add to my collection. Thus, it is not possible to add the "Box set contents" to he REAL 2.5 box set. Hope this clarifies my original posting.

You could try doing the same add-by-disc ID procedure, but select to not download the profile from Invelos. Then when it's in your database, you can refresh it if it is in the DB. Disc ID recognition seems to be a little haphazard at times.

Yea, but what about the (clearly) faulty one that blocks the automatic process? Can't someone change it so it reflects the real title? Of all the discs in the Farscape series, this seems to be the only broken one in the database.

My flatmate has the UK edition of this particular release, and it's acting the same way so I guess you have this release too.
It looks like for whatever reason, the child profile of volume 2.10 has never been created. So when you put 2.10 in your drive, Profiler is instead linking you to the profile that contains that disc ID in it's contents. If you download the box set 2.5 profile, you'll notice it has a valid UPC and the disc ID is linked to disc 2 in that profile.
So the program is behaving the way it should. The problem is, is that the profile you are looking for does not exist yet. Fancy giving it a go?

Edit: I've just tried Nadja's suggestion and the child profile for 2.10 definitely is not in the database.
I've just had an idea - I'm going to see if it's still in Intervocative's database, and I'll submit it if it's there.

bring up the add dvd dialogue box so as to add a new dvd, sort through the farscape disc's until you find one for the disc you are trying to add (from another locality if need be) add that dvd to your collection.

click on that dvd that is now in your collection, insert your version of the dvd into your computer dvd drive...along the top of DVDP you see File Collection DVD etc, under DVD at the bottom of that drop down list 'Change EAN' brings up a new dialogue box
Title:
Current EAN:
New EAN:

Use disc ID from inserted disc (with a tickbox)
just select that.

each time you put your version of that disc in the drive DVDP will recognise it as the profile you want.

I have the profiles for most of the Farscape series currently in my wishlist (still haven't got around to buying them yet)
I have a profile for 2.10 with a disc ID of 576F4B0486D29FC1 if it's any help. don't know how to get it to you though (since it's in wishlist I don't think I can upload it (no verification possible with contribution)).

That's the right profile Steve. I guess the best way to get it to knutt is to run a backup of your database, but only select that profile (and de-selecting your cast & crew bits etc.), you should be able to email the resulting file to knutt to restore.

Knutt, if you want to submit the profile so others can use it, make sure you've changed the locality of the profile as well as the EAN so it matches the one you have.

Yes I know that North...but since knutt's email is private...

at the same time it doesn't help anybody else who might want it.

Steve

that brings back memories of how we were passing profiles during the legal wrangle.

I was able to create one, as there is a PARALLEL listing in the UK area for this series. I downloaded that one (Disc 2.10), changed "Farscape Volume 2.10" to read "Farscape: 2.10", changed the Disc ID as described by you and I uploaded it to complete the series I started downloading from.

<OFF TOPIC>
Since you have not purchased Farscape yet, DO SO - you won't regret it. You seem to be in the same category "insane" as me with roughly the same SF interest too. Farscape is a fine addition to your collection. One of my all-time favourite shows.
</OFF TOPIC>

And, thanks again for your help!

I think I did it right. The locality was United Kingdom on both of them. (The wrong one clogging the system and the one I - eh - "borrowed" to get this working. Great if someone can verify.
