If a actors names has two initials are they always entered A/B/Surname or can they be AB//Surname i have quite a few in my cast list entered both ways. Here's a small list of them.
E.G. Marshall
E.E. Clive
E.V.H. Emmett
G.D. Spradlin
J.R. Bourne
J.G.Devlin
L.J. King
M.C. Gainey
O.J. Simpson
S.D. Nemeth
I have been going through my profiles correcting them from AB//Surname to A/B/Surname when i suddenly thought should then definitely be that way.

Best bet would be to find out what the initials are an abreviation for?

then go from there.

Generally speaking, they should be entered as A./B./Surname.

However, as with every rule, there are exceptions.  If you can document that the person uses a double initial, such as "BJ", as their first name, then submit it as such and let the voters and screeners make the ultimate decision.

I agree with Hal. The same goes even if there is no period after the initial.

I agree with hal.

I think that

A. B. C. should be parsed A./B./C.

and that

A B C should be parsed A/B/C

but also think that

AB C (with no point between A and B) should be parsed AB/ /C - if not then it's impossible to tell the credit AB C from the credit A B C

i agree with that if there's documentation that AB C is actually AB/C and not just a design style for a particular credit...it could happen, i do if for a living and we're sneaky that way.

If it's a French "Jean-Paul" or "Jean-Michel", or an Italian "Maria Giovanna" or "Maria Grazia", or a Spanish "Juan Manuel" and so on, they are all considered composite FIRST names, afaik.

Jean-Paul
"Jean-Paul est un prénom composé masculin."

True, when there is a - between names, it is considered in french as only one name. It's also true for female names Marie-Claire, Anne-Marie,  etc...

LOL, there we go again. I have never seen such a listing as A-M Claire or or A. - M. Claire. Contrary to popular opinion in Paris the French do noit control the World. Hal is correct.

Me too.

As a matter of curiosity surfeur, how would the French write Jean-Paul in terms of initials? Would it simply be J. or J.P. or J.-P.?

That would be J.P Belmondo. In fact french people usually have a second name, but it is quite never used, except on official papers.
So, for Belmondo, the correct entry is Jean-Paul//Belmondo

My wife's first name is Marie-Claire (second name Gisèle),  and my second son's first name is Jean-Baptiste (second name Claude).

But of course, all I thought for years is not true, since I had not asked you to give me the good answer...

Well, my parents could not afford to give me a second name, but I was able to give my children an alternative

Also here in Germany we have "double first names" which are considered one name. E.g. "Karl-Heinz", "Franz-Josef". I think they are commonly abbreviated "K.-H.".
