Here's some official details for Warner's Speed Racer, set to debut on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on 9/16. The DVD will be available in anamorphic widescreen and full frame versions (SRP $28.98 each), each with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Extras will include 2 featurettes (the Spritle in the Big Leagues tour of the set with Paulie Litt, and a Speed Racer: Supercharged! featurette on the drivers, cars and tracks of the World Racing League). The Blu-ray Disc version will include that, along with a Speed Racer: Car-Fu Cinema featurette on the special effects, the Speed Racer: Crucible Challenge interactive game and a Digital Copy version of the film. Unfortunately, we've confirmed that the Blu-ray is a BD-25 with just Dolby Digital 5.1 audio rather than TrueHD, which is a real shame. If ever a film deserved BD-50/TrueHD treatment on Blu-ray, it's this one. I suppose, however, in light of how badly the film tanked, it shouldn't be unexpected. In any case, we can also confirm that the Blu-ray will be a 3-disc set (though sadly, not as good as it sounds), including the BD disc and 2 DVD discs, one with the Digital Copy and one with the Speed Racer: Crucible Challenge interactive game. Looks like I can cross this off my wishlist! | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... | | | Last edited: by NewEnglander |

| Posted: | | | | Is anyone interested in these 'digital copy' discs? I don't know why I'd want to watch a movie on my iPod that I could watch on Blu-ray instead. And if I want to watch a movie on my computer, I watch the BD disc. I realize not everyone has a BD drive, but it still seems like overkill to include these digital copy discs for everyone. This 3-disc set, to me, is a BD with 2 coasters. | | | ...James

I do not want to invest in enough HD space to put all these movies on my computer. A virus scan, spyware scan, backup and defrag would take forever. |

| Posted: | | | | According to The Digital Bits, It's now sounding like this may have been a mistake in Warner's press release. They've already said it was a mistake on Blow and L.A. Confidential (they'll be on BD-50's with TrueHD). Bill Hunt is waiting to hear confirmation that Speed Racer is also going to be on a BD-50 with TrueHD. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. One small "plus" of buying non-US discs a lot of the time is that they don't bother with this digital copy nonsense -- yet. And people thought "combo discs" were annoying. | | | Erik

For those that follow the Hellboy Franchise, I heard from some that saw it, that Hellboy II totally blew chunks (totally disjointed and way over the top on CGI effects) . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

For those that follow the Hellboy Franchise, I heard from some that saw it, that Hellboy II totally blew chunks (totally disjointed and way over the top on CGI effects) . Yahoo ratings (users and critics) say otherwise. I follow Yahoo ratings because I know generally how different my personal rating is from the average ratings there. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

For those that follow the Hellboy Franchise, I heard from some that saw it, that Hellboy II totally blew chunks (totally disjointed and way over the top on CGI effects) . I saw Hellboy 2 and loved it. Sure it has CG, but it also has more of the best comic book character ever, more of his friends, lots more "creatures" and very funny dialog. Still, speed racer with DD 5.1 sound on blu? That sucks. If they stick by that I won't buy it. | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

| Posted: | | | | UPS. Sorry, I didn't read all posts before writing my message. "Speed Racer" in True HD, which I really gonna think it's gonna be, would be awesome. I did think that sounded strange from the start. Why would Warner release a title like that in inferior Quality. That would only hurt sales. | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

For those that follow the Hellboy Franchise, I heard from some that saw it, that Hellboy II totally blew chunks (totally disjointed and way over the top on CGI effects) . I loved the first movie but not second. I wanted my money back. Just my opinion. | Posted: | | | | Quoting Bill Hunt Quote: And sadly, Warner's Speed Racer on Blu-ray Disc does appear to be getting lackluster treatment. It DOES appear to be a BD-25 release WITHOUT Dolby TrueHD audio. WTF?! The back of the packaging confirms the lack of TrueHD (it's Dolby Digital only) and as you already know, the extras are crap - just a trio of making-of featurettes and a game. This is a shame, because we've got industry sources that have confirmed to us that The Wachowski Brothers created a bunch of cool extras for the DVD and Blu-ray that Warner has apparently chosen to shelve at this time, presumably due to the film's lackluster box office. Whoever made that decision at Warner, care to e-mail me to explain? We've got a LOT of readers who are none to happy about this at the moment, and I'm certainly none to pleased either. What a shame! This could have been the reference Blu-ray of the year, and now it's not even worth the purchase price. $35.99?! Seriously? For what's basically a movie-only Blu-ray without TrueHD audio? LAME! It should be $19.99 given what little you get. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |
