And yeah, I still sometimes buy HD DVDs at full price (well, not the full SRP of course but with the usual discounts, between 30-50% off) but now I have almost every single HD DVD I'm interested in so there's not much left for me to buy at this point... | | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

They may be testing the waters to see if it's worth releasing any of the stuff they had set up for this. Hence the question about films that were not from major studios.
With the pickup of the French MA VIE EN ROSE (MOME), I am pretty well happy with the HD DVDs I have, though I wouldn't be averse to tracking down the German LARA CROFT: THE CRADLE OF LIFE HD DVD at something approaching a reasonable price. Aren't you worried that if your HD DVD player became faulty you wouldn't be able to replace it and couldn't watch the movies? Personally I held off buying any HD films until I knew which would be the winning format so now I only have Blu Ray. I totally know what you mean.. I got well over a 100 HD-DVD's now and it's hard to find anything of interest.. Just got the Ocean Trilogy.. One I missed so far.. and the Harry Potter movies.. I would love for some big studios to release their top titles in HD-DVD. | | Posted: | | | | I'm much the same. I got most of the movies I was interested in on HD DVD before Warner went Blu, but now that HD DVDs are dirt cheap I'm buying stuff that I'm not terribly interested in, but would still probably enjoy, and a bargain is a bargain! |

Personally I held off buying any HD films until I knew which would be the winning format so now I only have Blu Ray. It cost the same on Blu Ray as it did on HD-DVD. I opted for HD-DVD to show my support.. Also there are still many titles out there you simply don't get on Blu Ray. Also I am not that worried about my player giving up because I remember having my Laserdisc Player repaired 10 years after the format died.. So I guess there will be spare parts for some time.. By law they are required to provide service for a "Reasonable amount of time".. That's of course vague.. And in time there will be new editions of the movies that I'll want to get anyway so what happens in the distant future is of little significance.
