| Posted: | | | | While it isn't a combo-disc, Disney has decided to target the potential Blu-ray market. The latest commercial for Sleeping Beauty, basically, says, "Don't have a Blu-ray player? Don't worry. Buy Sleeping Beauty: Platinum Edition - 2 Disc Blu-ray and you will get the DVD version, to enjoy now, and the Blu-ray version for when you decide to upgrade."

| Posted: | | | | That really surprises me. So if you buy it and have a Blu-ray player, what do you do with the DVD? My guess is 90% of them will be given to someone else so they don't have to buy Sleeping Beauty. I can't figure out why Disney did this. It's a great idea of course, but it's still shocking. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm guessing it'll either be a trade system (send DVD in, get blu-ray back) or an upgrade system such as Criterion are offering. |

That does indeed seem like the likely scenario, but apparently you get both the Blu-ray and the DVD discs with the purchase of the Blu-ray edition: http://adisney.go.com/disneyvideos/animatedfilms/sleepingbeauty/Just hover your mouse over the Blu-ray cover on the right... | Posted: | | | | I was glad to see it. I am planning on buying it (as is just about everyone here I'm sure) but was not going to buy the Blu version. My reason is simply I didn't want to have to be tied down to one TV to view this on. I am very excited the bvlu version will come with a standard disk! Now it's a no brainer which one to buy |

| Posted: | | | | Actually I suspect a lot of these will be used for the intended purpose. The Blu-ray is hooked up to the main family TV, and there is just a standard player in the kids' room, so they can watch on there. Or it gets used in the car---not a lot of built in or portable Blu-ray players just yet. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

Can't be a trade in system as you get the DVD 'free', inside the same box, when you buy the 2 Disc Blu-ray Platinum Edition. Quoting lyonsden5: Quote: I was glad to see it. Now it's a no brainer which one to buy Prior to seeing the latest commercial, I was planning on buying both versions...one for my HD room and one for the kids to use. Now I don't have to. While I know they are not being altruistic, I am a happy customer because it will end up saving me money. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Not a bad marketing ploy. It could mean: when the 'short window' is over for buying direct, Disney will 'keep' a Bluray for you, in the vault for you (to buy) in the coming years..... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I got my copy today from Amazon... There's a sticker on the slip case that says:
Limited Time Only Includes Both 2-Disc Blu-ray Full-Length Film in High Definition
1-Disc DVD Digitally Restored Full-Length Film
This is how it's packaged, once you remove the slip cover, you'll see a cardboard envelope that contains the DVD. Has some artwork and everything. It's stuck to the Bu-ray case with that gummy type glue. They are shrink wrapped together.
Looks like it might really be a limited time offer. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | I appears to a limited DVD. The extras appear to be only a few on the DVD, but I have to look further.
For me I like it. I would have bought the DVD since I used it on various TV that just have regular DVD. Now I was able to get Blueray and the DVD. All my family DVD's have been regular DVD for this reason. |
