The way it is now, a single change to a profile takes about six days before being processed. This is "to give users time to vote", according to Ken. So far so good.

But what if a certain ratio of votes (lets say from 3 or 5 to 0) is reached far before that delay period? The delay period is to allow for correctness, but if correctness can be assumed far earlier processing really should begin. The delay should be an exception, not the rule. What good is it that a popular title gets more than 10 yes-votes, en no no-votes in about a day, and is still delayed six whole days for processing? What difference is the delay going to make?

Considering any means to speed up the processing (without comprimising correctness) is really important for the communitiy since it allows to complete profiles way faster (it takes weeks back and forth, for the moment), and to anticipate for new releases.

Thoughts? To Ken, can this be done?

I'm not Ken, but I do see a problem.

There are a lot of voters that seem to rubberstamp contributions when they arrive,  I can submit a contribution and could have 5 votes within 10  minutes (at least here in R1).  Are you telling me these people have analyzed the data and voted accordingly.

5 or 6 days may seem like a lot of time, but all it takes is 1 proper no vote, for the screeners to decline it.  I am for the delay.

The amount of time between contribution & processing seem to vary depending on how busy the contribution system is. Right now, we're not that long into a new version of the system so people are still contributing updates under the new fields/Rules. Once things settle down, I'd imagine that they'll go back to being processed in around 3 days.
__

I think most of us know that there are plenty of users out there who vote Yes to every single contribution regardless of whether or not it's correct. If you start to process them once you get to that suggested ratio, it's possible that incorrect contributions are more likely to get in because valid No votes might not get submitted.
__

Also, I think the Screeners have enough work to do as it is, without giving them more to do in one go!

The poll is currently 4:0, can we process it?!

I'm pretty sure there should be a way to take the ratio of votes into account to speed up the processing. Lets find out how

For now it's just not part of the equation yet. The system should anticipate for contributions where a delay would make no other difference than, well... being just a looong unnecessary delay.

As Ken has stated, this is an intended delay.  The only way to change this is for Ken to decide otherwise.  Other than the built in delay, I am assuming that profiles...except for new releases...are done on a first in, first out basis.

How about a percentage? In some regions titles only appear to be owned by one or two people. As soon as they have voted, proceed.

But maybe a better use for "ownership" data is to remove titles that are not owned by anybody. I am sure there are a lot of ghost profiles around.

I am fine with what we have, I do not want to any sort speedup, we have enough bad data that creeps into the system, speedup would only magnify that. Just learn to be patient, Tom

Why the hurry? Since you contributed it you already have the data. What does it matter to you if they are released in 3 or 6 days?

I've never sat before the voting screen and said "I need that data now!", I voted yes and in a few days it will come in with the next update...

The only thing that s**ks on waiting is the voting on multiple contributions. But this is another problem.

I've no problem with waiting for a profile release. It's much better to wait and get correct data, than correcting data that got wrongly through the voting and screening.

What's wrong with thinking about a speedier process, without compromising correctness? Never read any constructive thoughts.

I don't consider speedup to be constructive, I see it as a way to take the database down a road filled with potholes. That's why
