Hi all,
there's a way to recover from my old iPhone backup saved into iTunes the database and save it into my new iPhone ?
I cannot restore the whole old iPhone backup, any chance to recover only DVD Profiler's database ?

iTunes should give you a list of backups to restore onto the new phone.

If it does not, there is no way to perform a partial restore using iTunes.

iTunes backup files are located in the following areas on your PC depending on your OS:

On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

On Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

On Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync

Remember:

If you choose to set up as a new iPhone or iPod, first transfer your purchases and other data, then back up any important backups of that device you want to retain from the backup folders listed above. iTunes only retains one sync-generated backup per device, and the first sync after setting up as new will replace your previous backup. If you change your mind and want to restore to your previous state, you will have to do so from a backup that you have retained through your periodic backup routine. If you have Mac OS 10.5.5 or later and use Time Machine, Time Machine may back up your backup. Copies of a backup marked with a date and time stamp created by selecting to "Restore from the back up of" are retained by iTunes and not overwritten. For an example of a backup with the date and time stamp in the device name, see the picture below in the Deleting a Backup section.

If you want to restore ONLY the DVDP iOS app*, you'll need to perform a full restore on your device, sync your collection with the DVDP Desktop app, perform a full restore of your current setup, sync with the Desktop again.

(*in theory)

so only a full restore could be useful to take back DVD Profiler database (from my old time machine iphone backup) ?
no other way / tool that could grab only that database ?

btw WHEN DVD Profiler will introduce sync capabilities to myprofiler or MobileMe (iCloud) or dropbox (to sync with other devices) ? With this important feature my problem should be solved in a fraction of seconds ...

If you are unable to restore iTunes iPhone backup then you should use effective third-party iPhone Backup Software and create fresh backup. If you search online you will find numerous software which can create backup of your iPhone data. I had used Cucusoft iPhone Backup Software which is really trustworthy. So, you can try this.

Restoring from backup will restore the files in the backup altogether, thus you will lose your current data on your device. So, for this situation, a backup extractor software comes in handy if you want to retrieve just specific files or worst if your backup is corrupt.

Many iPhone users are very care about the security of their iPhone data, so do I. I used to connect my iPhone to computer and synced the data to computer at the same time. Once I want to recover my data of iPhone, I will use the iPhone backup extractor to export my data to iPhone again, it does a lot of good to my iPhone data.

You don't lose anything if you back up your phone before upgrading. I made 3 backups; one to iCloud and two to my computer. The way to keep multiple backups is to go to iTunes Preferences -> Devices, right click on the most recent backup, and choose "Archive". The next backup will be a full backup, and you will have both available.
If you back up over the air you also will not lose anything unless something goes wrong in the upgrade process, but then you have your backups to restore from.

PS: there is one third party application we can use for this problem which is called ''itools'',
you can download this application without any charges form their website. And if you follow the instructions as they given in thier website you can get back your contacts from itunes back up file.

DVD Profiler for iOS does back up to iCloud as part of your device's iCloud backup.  Also, you can connect to DVD Profiler Online and upload/download your collection.  See the Databases section for details, and choose Change Connection Type.

If lost data from iphone or itunes, you can use a  data recovery tool, that can be helpful.

This is a quite effective program to restore backup from iTunes.
