I have been investigating building an HTPC for my entire DVD collection (probably to rip them to a few piles of Tb discs, and then drive it all with Win7, WMC and............................my DVDPro catalogue...plugged into WMC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOPE.....no way......nothing in DVDPro to enable this function.....

So what do I do.....?????

I know....I found MyMovies....will import my DVDPro catalogue, and let me do the above,,,,,

ah.....NOPE...they have now killed this option....they no longer let you do this.....you can no longer import your DVDPro collection.xml into MyMovies, they want you to subscribe to them for ALL future DVD's....in other words...if you import to MyMovies....you can no longer use DVDPro......well...not sure if that's entirely true.....but that's what they say.....as they are trting to steal the market from the mighty DVDPro !!!


It seems that they are trying to get people to defect across to them....and to be honest....I can see a lot of people might - if the DVDpro writers don't get in gear & write a WMC app/plugin.....I would think a lot of people who use DVDPro use a media center, or would like to, and from what I've seen whilst investigating my plans.....it seems that Windows7, with WMC, and Mymovies, or Boxee  is the way to go....as DVDPro...are not in this marketplace....they are going to loose current...and many future customers I reckon.....

I would think it's worth their while doing this to avoid losing the market...I think DVDPro is the BEST cataloging software out there....and I LOVE it....but if I want to integrate it...I can't....and other apps can....so what does one do???  Move to Mymovies !!!!!! for shame.


COME ON DVD Pro....I have faith in you guys....PLEASE Fix this issue quick smart !!!

In your poll you forgot the third option:

I don't want to use any external program to start my videos in WMC, because WMC is already capable of doing this.

But for those that really need an external player: Try the LoadDVD PlugIn from the download section of this site.
Not sure if it already has an MCE integration, but I'm sure that if it's possible Mediadogg will do his best to implement this.

I know WMC can play/search/list the movies itself.....and that's all well and good...but as a user of DVDPro, I (for one - and maybe many of us) would like the option to import/plug-in my DVDPro catalogue...will all the lovely bells & whistles we paid for when we purchased the licence for DVDPro.....why is that wrong to want/desire??  The people who bought a MyMovies licence have that option...and they can customize it etc....as an avid lover of the VISUAL side of the movies...these 'little' things...could REALLY enhance my (your?) experience when sitting down in your home cinema/in front of your large TV to watch a movie.....why 'settle' for the boring Microsoft front end????

It's only a request to get Invelos to make DVDPro on a par with it's closest competitor.....the MyMovies product (including the iphone app etc) is VERY similar to DVDPro, but it has this 'extra' tempatation for me as a user....

If I had neither a DVDPro, nor a MyMovies licence right now...I'd go for MyMovies....just because of this option......am I wrong to be trying to get DVDPro to improve, to fly the flag for one of my fav apps???  Surely not?

None of your options include the way I launch movies from DVD Profiler: LoadDVD and LoadDVD Pro. That's what they were designed to do. Here is a video of the Pro version in action.

As far as WMC, XBOX 360, etc., I just use DLNA or SMB sharing. All those apps find the media just fine. In addition, my media is available to DVD Profiler, 3 HTPCs, all the family laptops and tablets and smartphones, two Network receivers (Onkyo) and two LG "smart" Blue-Ray players (with Netflix, DLNA, etc.)

All media is spinning on Windows Home Server 2011 and WHS V1.

I don't whine ... I just DO.

(BTW as has been mentioned before, there are a number of HTML scripts for launching media using DVD Profiler built-in HTML sections. See the Layouts Discussion Forum - each method has its pros and cons, but all of them, including LoadDVD are FREE - take your pick).
