I didn't post August NPD numbers for a few reasons:

1. I didn't know they were out.

2. I didn't know I was suppose to post the numbers for console sales every month.  I can only remember posting those numbers once.

3. The worldwide numbers don't seem to be available.

Remember, I'm not the one that has a problem accepting facts.  The Xbox 360 has done really well this month IN THE US (it's nice to have a year head start with no competition).  I'm not the one living in the UK and only posting US numbers like the US numbers are the only ones that count.

This is just like the original Xbox.  The rule seems to go like this...

If you can't sell well in the rest of the world, you tend not to have a successful console in the end.

We will see if MS can break that rule...or not.  There is a saying.  BS might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.  I'm just sayin'...

PS3 Controller Rumbles at the Tokyo Game Show
It's finally official: the PS3 has rumble.
By Sam Kennedy, 09/19/2007

We've known it's been coming for a while now, but now it's completely official: the PS3 will soon offer a rumble controller. 1UP has confirmed through multiple sources -- including some within Sony -- that PS3 games are now offering rumble and we'll see first examples of this at the Tokyo Game Show.

It's expected that along with a PS3 price drop for Japan, Kaz Hirai will be revealing the new PS3 rumble controller at his TGS keynote (later tonight U.S. time). Sources have also indicated that one of the big reveals may be that the playable Metal Gear Solid 4 demo will include rumble functionality. Those who have tried the controller spoke positively of it, saying that it's a bit heavier than the current Sixaxis.

Such a shame Sony didn't just settle the lawsuit with Immersion to start with. And they made it worse by lying about it and making claims like "Rumble is last gen" and "we cannot integrate rumble and motion sensing". My PS3 came with 2 sixaxes but I will begrudgingly pick up a Dual Shock 3 or Sixaxis Rumble when it is released, as long as rumble with all PS1 and PS2 games works.

On another note: A coke-drinking shaved monkey and Wesley Snipes/Chris Tucker? And I thought Kojima was already going too far out there with the Beauty and the Beast stuff to make number 4 a real worldwide game.

Yes, I believe Sony should have settle that case earlier than it did, but I don't know what was going on in the background.  That could have been there only choice (to settle it at the time they did).

As far as Sony saying rumble was last gen, how is that a lie?  Wasn't rumble on the PS2?  Isn't the PS2 last gen?  Therefore, rumble was/is last gen.  It's just that most STILL want it this gen.  The customers complained enough and Sony has responded to the customers.  The same thing happened with the original PS3 controller, but that changed before the console even came out.  The same thing will most likely happen wth being able to access the XMB from inside a game.  I can definitely say Sony responds to their customers, if they make a somewhat loud noise about it (unless it's not within reason).

About the new controllers, I heard the motion sensors inside hve been replaced with better ones.  Supposedly, there are some minor dead spots within the full range of motion.  If true, this should allow for more granular control over motion functions.

Wow some more Sony contempt for Europe and this time the US!!! Dual shock 3 to be released in November 2007 in Japan and Spring 2008 in Europe and the US even though both those markets have double the PS3's sold than Japan!! Then they give us a list of rumble-enabled games like Ratchet and Clank that is out in October, yet we cant buy a Dual Shock 3 for until Spring 08. Yeah thanks Sony, we love you too!!

Even more lies from Kaz Hirai: "At the beginning we thought that would be very difficult technologically... however, we have been able to overcome this difficulty... This will be a new way of enjoying the PS3." Still wont admit that it was a legal dispute that lost them rumble.

In other news, Home has been delayed again to Spring 2008.

This TGS was meant to be the turning point for Sony, looks like they've disappointed yet again...

Whatever, dude.  "More Sony contempt for..."...this..."even more Sony lies..."...that.  You must have taken drama classes.

It's a shame that "Home" and the Dual Shock 3 controllers won't be out until later.  I was really looking forward to it in October.  However, I would rather Sony delay "Home" so they can get it right than release a bad product.  That will hurt sales, but it couldn't be avoided.

I wonder what the 2.0 update will bring for PS3 owners.

EDIT: PS3 remote turn on via PSP is coming!  Plus, Sony just bought the studio that made MotorStorm and they say they may acquire others to focus on more game titles.  I'm sure they will be more interesting titles like L.A. Noire, Heavy Rain, a few unnamed projects, The Agency, etc.

BTW, Heavenly Sword was an emotional rollercoaster!  IMO, it's worth it's weight in gold!  Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings) fulfilled his role as Dramatic Director on the project.  I was emotionally drained after this one!

Well I do - rumble in controllers was a technology created by a company called Immersion. Sony used the tech in Dual Shock 1 and 2 without paying Immersion any royalties. As did Microsoft with their Xbox 1 controllers. Immersion started a lawsuit against both companies in 2004, MS decided to pay 26 million dollars and settle (and received a stake in the company), Sony refused and were ordered to pay 90.7 million dollars for patent infringement, they continued to appeal the judgement in the high court so they could keep selling Dual Shock 2s, but there was no way they could release a Dual Shock 3 with Rumble, so they removed the feature and tried to pretend this was a voluntary choice with statements such as "I believe that the Sixaxis controller offers game designers and developers far more opportunity for future innovation than rumble ever did. Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it's not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is. And we don't see the need to do that. Having said that, there will be specific game function controllers, potentially like steering wheels that do include vibration or feedback function -- not from us but from third parties." - Phil Harrison (Sony President of Worldwide Studios).

Once Sony realised what a mistake they had made with Sixaxis and that they couldn't keep appealing, they settled and paid the $97.2 million (after interest) court judgement, plus royalties totalling at least $53.1 million.

They are now free to include Immersion technology in their new products (and of course pay a royalty!)

And now for idiotic statement of the day:

That wasn't what was going on in the background.  That was what people heard.  I'm talking about the stuff you don't hear...you know...beyond the Sony haters info, the new stories, and press releases.  There is a difference you know.

Hey, didn't Ken spank you earlier (in the other thread) for being rabid?   You might want to calm down a little and wipe the foam from your mouth.

Oh right so internationally reported public news is now hearsay is it? Every major news outlet in the world reported on something "people heard". All the public doucments listing every detail of the lawsuits were all rumours writtten by "people". Ah I see, how naive of me.

I could go on for ages but i'm boring myself, note that I don't get any of my news from "www.sonysucks.com", I read unbiased sites which just report the news as it is, a bizarre concept to you I'm sure.

As for your last sentence, if you are free to spout your uninformed, grossly biased and frequently incorrect drivel over and over in these forums, then I am perfectly entitled to write informed and unbiased opinions and information and correct you as long as I like.

Sony has said that the Rumble feature will work for already released games with a "software update". IGN has a list of all compatible games with this software update.

I guess you just didn't know you can set-up an account on your PS3 for North America, Europe, and Japan.  Since it is via a browser connectivity, YOU CAN NOW ACCESS THE PS STORE FROM YOUR PC!

Moving on...

A new trailer for AFRIKA is available on the newly launched website!  Click were it says "Tokyo Game Show 2007".

You better have a decent computer to play this HD trailer!  It looks beautiful!  I would love to know more about this title!

Yes you can use a fake address to set up the PSN store in other regions to your own (which I have done, so yes I did know), but you cant use a credit card registered to your real address (say in Europe) to make purchases on the Japanese store under a fake address. So yes YOU CAN NOW ACCESS THE JAPANESE PS STORE FROM YOUR PC, but NO THAT'S NOT MUCH USE, other than downloading trailers or demos in Japanese.

Metal Gear Solid 4 running at a native 1080p!

Quote:
We also couldn't confirm what resolution MGO was running at, whereas MGS4 was definitely doing its thing in full 1080p.

I here MGS4 also might run at 60 fps!  This is a technical feat for certain!  It proves the power of the PS3.

DUALSHOCK 3 have NEW rumble tech? (inside 1up's MGS4 preview)

Quote:
We did enjoy the various rumble effects employed by the new Dual Shock 3 controller, though: As explosions rattled around Snake, we could actually feel the direction from which they were coming based on what part of the controller vibrated.

1up Video review of MGS4 at TGS'07

Ratchet & Clank Future will run at 1080i/60 fps!

Quote:
Set to run at 60 fps, the title will support both 720p and 1080i. For all you Resistance fans, they promise that all of their upcoming PS3 titles will support 60 fps (and that means Resistance 2 as well). Back to Ratchet and Clank, the title will take up a whopping 22 GB of a 25 GB Blu-ray disc. Even without the localizations, the title couldn't fit on a DVD9.

GT5: Prologue runs at a native 1080p/60 fps!

New Katamari Game for the PS3 (not Beautiful Katamari)!

Quote:
Speaking with Beautiful Katamari director Jun Morikawa at the Tokyo Game Show, he clarified that Beautiful Katamari specifically will not be appearing on the PS3 -- but, that the series will definitely be making its way to the console soon.

Whether this PS3 title ends up being a pseudo remake of Beautiful Katamari with some added enhancements (as Namco Bandai did with Ridge Racer 6 on Xbox 360 to Ridge Racer 7 on PS3) in unknown. Then again, the Katamari games aren't that fundamentally different from each other anyway. The real point? A new Katamari game is headed for PS3. The director also hinted at the series making an appearance on Wii.

Naruto PS3 Project

A few magazine shots.

Magazine shots of Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (aka Yakuza 3)

These are the following exclusive games due between now and the next 6 - 12 months...

GT5: Prologue, Ratchet & Clank Future, Folklore, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Unreal Tournament 3, Haze, NBA 08, Eye of Judgement, Stranglehold: Collector's Ed., Time Crisis 4, Jak & Daxter, Guan Yu, MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, Tekken 6, MGO, GT5, Afrika, L.A. Noire, SOCOM, Killzone 2, and possibly Heavy Rain.  There are also 3 or 4 more PlaystationEye titles due in that time period and about 4 or 5 unnamed projects just outside that 12 month range.

Then, there are the TONS of multi-platform games.

A NEW PS3 SKU (Model # CECHG01) is at the FCC!

Here's the PDF from the FCC.

This must be the $399 40GB PS3!
