My only guess is that there's a Gag Order of some kind that lets him keep the site up.

We can continue using this software whether Invelos.com and its online database exist or not.  Invelos.com could close its doors tomorrow.  I don't need to download profiles from the Invelos online database.  I don't need to backup my collection at Invelos.com or have Invelos.com host an online version of my database.  I'm perfectly content to add profiles locally, backup my database locally and host my own online collection.  There's no online activation when going to install the software and enter my registration key and I'll always have a local backup of the required files needed in order to access the "DVD\Add to Collection..." option in the event I've performed a fresh install and find that Invelos.com is not available.  The beauty of this software is the fact you aren't tied at the hip to some online server as you are with My Movies for example.  I'm still using the original DVD Profiler database I created back during the early years of the DVD format.  Talk about standing the test of time.  To each his own naturally, but I won't be looking for a new solution if/when Invelos.com is no more.  Twenty years from now I'll still be using this software to catalog my DVD's and Blu-ray's.  Well, God willing.  Tomorrow is promised to no one after all.

I'll take a stab and say that you would only need a database backup and either the executable or the zip file from the products download page.

I'd say no considering your computer and the Invelos server can't "talk" to each other to confirm the key number... not that I'm an expert but that sound logical to me.

Looks good so far. Opened a VM (Oracle VM VirtualBox) which never had a DVD Profiler installed. Switched off the network, installed Profiler and everything looked OK. While restoring a backup it warned of limitations, coz unregistered, I only restored 50. Then entered registration, new BD restore, no nagging and every profile was restored.
