| Posted: | | | | Having just switched from my BBStorm to a DroidX let me say first that 2 years of tech have improved significantly. I vote for a Droid app as well. I currently use the browser to see my online collection but must admit my envy when looking at the features the current mobile dvdp offers. +++1 please | | | Last edited: by hornplayer |

As I have a "Converted" eBook reader (Pandigital Novel, sold at many places, Radio Shack, Kohls, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Walgreens when on sale and with coupons + rebates could be purchased for less than $100.00 (I will of paid less than $95 w/Kohls rebate if received) into a working "Android" Tablet computer!" | | | Growing older is mandatory...Growing up is optional... | Posted: | | | | I searched these forums hoping to get some good news about something in development. Lack of an application that will do this is now the only reason I'm still carrying my iPod around. I have 1,200+ DVDs and can't possibly remember all of them when I'm out shopping, so I ended up buying a lot of duplicates until a year or so ago when I found the iPhone app that syncs with my DVD Profiler database. I've spent the past hour looking around for an Android app that will do it, but no luck. There are general cataloging apps, but nothing specific to DVDs like what I have on the iPod now. I would gladly pay for an app that will sync with my Droid. My guess is that a Droid app would be more lucrative for Invelos than an iPhone app. Droid device sales have been outpacing iPhone sales all year, probably partly because there are so many Droid devices and carriers, while AT&T has an exclusivity contract on the iPhone and, unlike the Android OS, iOS runs only on a single device, while there is a wide array of Android devices to choose from. I've seen a lot of articles in the past few months from professional tech reviewers who expect Android devices to be dominant in the market in the not too distant future even if Verizon does start carrying the iPhone, and that is a big if at this point. I’ve already had one friend who had an iPhone and messed around with my Droid and decided to switch, and I have several others who are planning to switch once their contract is up. As much as diehard iPhone fans hate to admit it, there are a lot of things you can do with a Droid that you just can’t do with an iPhone. |

After that post, I ran across an app named "My Collection Pro." For any of you who want an interim workaround, you might want to take a look at it. It's free and also allows books, CDs, and games on individual tabs. It's not perfect for my needs and won't keep me from carrying my iPod because it isn't graphical and doesn't include many identifying details. It's more a simple list format if you do it as an import so it's not ideal if you have multiple versions of one movie (like I have five different versions of Alice In Wonderland). It will apparently do some kind of graphical display if you scan in your movie barcodes, but I'm not going to sit here and scan more than 1,200 movies. That being said, it's still better than nothing if you don't have a workaround right now, and might actually be a good option for a new collector who doesn't have many existing movies to scan. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting jadecomputergal: As far as alternatives, I too found one but quickly realized it wouldn't work for me. It is called "Inventory Droid". It is not free, but you can add categories. (Home, DVD's, PC Games etc) BUT!!! The big problem I quickly came to realize, as you scan a DVD (Barcode reader - awesome! Invelos please take note) it adds the images to my 'Pictures' folder along with all my other camera photos... not to mention the room it takes up... Great app... but for that reason alone I am regulated to using it only for my home items such as TVs, DVD players, stereo etc. (Note, 'Inventory Droid' does allow to take a picture, store reciepts images, serial numbers, location, model #, purchase date/location and more.)
