| Posted: | | | | The last time Ken went totally silent was because he was put under a Gag order due to a law suit.
We don't know why Ken is so quiet about this but I am sure he has his reasons.
Just saying. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, as far as I remember new version always came around eventually. Just wait and be surprised!
Today I got me my iPad, WIFI 64GB. Having so much fun with right now, trying all kinds of apps. And somewhere soon, I'm sure, Ken will surprise us all with a great app for DVDProfiler..... |

Hi, Maybe the answer lies in the topic title 'Feature Requests>Not here yet, but...' Has anyone considered that we have gone slightly off topic and that perhaps a new thread should have been started for all our whinging? Ken is obviously reading the forums because he's posting in some of the others, just not this one. | Posted: | | | | I like the idea of the iphone/ipod feature. Will we be able to make changes to our collection? add movies to the collection? I have friends that use other companies catalonging software and it will not allow you to do anything but view them. |

Hi,
Maybe the answer lies in the topic title 'Feature Requests>Not here yet, but...' Has anyone considered that we have gone slightly off topic and that perhaps a new thread should have been started for all our whinging? Nope. I own the mobile version of dvd profiler and now no longer use it since I have gone for the Ipod touch. Ken asked us what we wanted in this thread. If he doesn't like the answer then he can always lock this thread and knowing what we like about software which is available is useful for him when he eventually does respond with some meagre information. | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | For what it's worth - I love the Pocket PC version of DVD Collector, and would be really happy if the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad version had exactly the same feature set...
The only thing I'd add is the ability to add DVDs by barcode - ideally using some kind of barcode image scanning (Red Light etc.) - but I'm not that fussed, since I've only got an iTouch, hence no camera. That's the only feature missing from Pocket PC for me (adding "Upcoming" seems to be okay, but adding randoms doesn't seem to get the right profile from online when you sync).
The other suggestion I loved was the idea of having Movie Pick on the iOS version - brilliant idea!
Roll on December (I'm guessing here... but it would be a nice Christmas present - in fact, perhaps I'll get an iPad for myself for Christmas if DVD Profiler is ready by then!)

| Posted: | | | | Is there a chance we could help beta test the software? Considering the fact that Apple controls the App store in a dictatorship-like manner I doubt it but it doesn't hurt to ask. ;-)
Thanks |

Thanks I don't believe there is such a thing as beta test for Iphone/touch apps. It gets released - full stop. | | | Paul |

I don't believe there is such a thing as beta test for Iphone/touch apps. It gets released - full stop. Not true. Apple has provided ways other than a mass release on iTunes for developers to test apps before they are released. There is a thing called a provisioning profile that you put in the users iTunes library and then you download the app via traditional means drop the app into iTunes and then sync with the iDevice. So yes you can beta test apps to a small or medium size group of users. You can also have a "Private App". Say a company wants an iPhone app for their employees but obviously you don't want the world to have it. This is done the same way. So that being said....Ken can I please be a beta tester? I seem to be one of the few people out here who is patient and not throwing you under the bus. I am truly shocked at some of the comments that are in this thread. Obviously many of you have not been around DVD Profiler very long and don't understand the timetables that Ken works on. If you did you would know that he is gonna release it on Monday |

| Posted: | | | | Agreed rgrounds. I agree that silence on any hotly-anticipated release (be it software or a new iPhone etc) is extremely frustrating, but I'm sure there are reasons, and ours is not to second guess. I've coped fairly well without a DVDProfiler iPhone app for two or three years and another few days/weeks/months won't hurt.
There are plenty of ways to view your collection on the go, although I'm sure Ken's solution will indeed be more elegant and hopefully allow you to add new DVDs etc. When it gets released, I look forward to getting it - in the mean time I think this forum is for "Feature Requests". Thus, I'd like to suggest that you can scan a bar code in a shop and add it to your wish list (preferably whilst checking for the cheapest price etc). But this is not an insignificant piece of development work, so it can probably go on the "Future Phase List" for now.
I'm also happy to assist with any QA/User testing, but I'm sure Ken has that sorted already anyway. |

| Posted: | | | | I too, am amazed at some of the comments. Do the people flaming Ken know who he is?
From what I hear, he is the ONLY one developing DVD Profiler.
So Please, flame away, perhaps he can put it back for say - another YEAR?
I too am dying for this for my iPad, but I am sure there are legal reasons why we are kept waiting.
Perhaps giving Ken a Thumbs up once in a while might make him work harder than he already is?
But flaming him ??
Alrighty then! |

Alrighty then! I'm sorry, but being annoyed that a developer doesn't give an update on a product, does not mean people are flaming him or ungrateful of the hard work he does. We all praise Ken for the product he has made here, but that doesn't mean he's immune to criticism. This whole thread was unnecessary. All that was required was a sentence about the product when people started getting antsy months ago, instead it has festered into people getting annoyed. If there was a hiccup in development, if Ken had personal issues to deal with, or for whatever other reason development has been delayed, the vast majority of people here would have understood and would have been 100% supportive. And the notion that Ken would intentionally delay a product because of criticism is ridiculous, and doesn't say much about how YOU see Ken as a person. |
