| Posted: | | | | Interesting. A_S is hyping the 360 which supports HD-DVD and downing the PS3 which supports Blu-ray. Just something I noticed. |

| Posted: | | | | It almost seems that Sony launched the PS3 prematurely. This xmas is when you will see some real PS3 games. I found it hard believe that Sony released the console without a major release of a game. I think they were focusing on Blu-ray aspect of the PS3 more than the "gaming" side of it.
With that in mind, based on A_S numbers on the outlining first 7 months of release of both consoles, the PS3 sold the same amount of consoles as the 360 without a tent pole game release like the 360 had with CoD 2. This holiday season is going to be an interesting one. The 360 has 2 huge titles due out: Halo 3 and GTA 4. The PS3 also has big titles due out too.
What surprises me the most is the Wii. I thought it was a "cute" system and chalked it up right next to the game cube. But, the way sales are going, it may not be a fad at all. It might end up being the sleeping dragon no one was expecting.
MS really messed up with the consoles, but at least they are owning up to it. It took a little while but they finally did.
Once the PS3 releases a game that uses at least half of the power and balances it by making a game that's fun to play..... also the lower console price we will start seeing the PS3 pull closer to the 360. It will take the PS3 longer to match the 360 as far as units sold, but not because the PS3 isn't a good console but because of time. The 360 has a year on them and a lot more games. | | | Last edited: by graymadder |

| Posted: | | | | Lair is 80% of the reason I wanted a PS3 (Blu-ray movies was the other 20%). I was very disappointed when I finally found a PS3 in stock to discover Lair was delayed.
I'm also became quite interested in Drake's Fortune once I saw the trailer for it. |

Quote: According to the graph, the Xbox has sold more than double than the PS3 - and half of those were after the PS3's release!
It's also funny how when the PS3 comes out, there's a spike in sales for X360! If you were consciously ignoring this, I apologize... Otherwise: *cough* x-max *cough* Yes, but it was x-mas for the PS3 too. Not only that, the PS3 was the new toy. X360 already had its x-mas. |

The Wii could be more than a fad, but I don't think so. I don't think there is much more than 2 years in the lifecycle of this console. I think the Xbox 360 and the PS3 was rushed to market. The Xbox 360 was rush with it's design flaw. The PS3 was rushed without the games and software updates. Soon there will be more games than you can buy on the PS3. I don't give MS any credit for the 3 year warranty. They had to do what they did or eventually face a class-action lawsuit that would have ended up costing them much more than $1 billion. The judge would have forced them to do a recall. As it stands right now, they can play the wait and see if your console craps out game. My time is valuable to me. I don't won't to waste time trying to deal with a MS rep and waiting for my console to be repaired (then sent back). I want my system to be there and ready when I want to play. Finding out the details for one game in particular sends chills up my spine. That's Killzone 2! I've heard they've done AMAZING things with this game. I can't wait for E3. I have my DVR ready! | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

Quote: I think you missed the point. The holiday season saw a HUGE spike in Wii and Xbox sales but not a spike in PS3 sales. I guess that had something to do with the fact that Sony didn't have many for sale...though that didn't stop the Wii from outselling both consoles.
PS3 sales did not spike until April. The Wii and PS3 sales had to spike. They were both at zero until launch day. Do you even read what people write? You must do this on purpose so you don't have to admit that your position is wrong. Of course there was an initial spike at release, but I didn't say anything about release date...I said a HUGE spike during the holidays. Both consoles were out for a month before Christmas. You will probably try and twist this but I will give it another shot. Both the PS3 and the Wii were launched in the same week, Nov. 13-19. The Wii sold, in the neighborhood of, 340,000 units. The PS3 sold, in a completely different neighborhood of, 180,000 units. The week leading up to Christmas, the Wii had a HUGE spike in sales up to 630,000 units sold. They added another 10,000 units sold just after Christmas. That is a spike of ~300,000units By comparison, the PS3 had a Christmas spike of ~10,000 units. As I said, that might be because Sony couldn't get any units to market...which would also explain the spike in PS3 sales at the end of March. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I'm also became quite interested in Drake's Fortune once I saw the trailer for it. I have heard this from a lot of people. They got the PS3 in hopes of playing a specific game, only to find out that game isn't ready yet. On a side note, Lair does look like a very good game. I will have to weigh my options a little more carefully with that in mind. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. But, the way sales are going, it may not be a fad at all. It might end up being the sleeping dragon no one was expecting. I was a little surprised as well. It came out at the same time as the PS3 but has sold at, more than, a 2:1 margin. It did have a highly anticipated game at launch, but that doesn't explain why it has almost caught up to the Xbox sales. My family got one for free and my kids love it. We can find a wide variety of games the whole family can enjoy. The same can not be said for the Ps3 and Xbox..which, actually, might explain why it is so popular. Quote: Once the PS3 releases a game that uses at least half of the power and balances it by making a game that's fun to play..... also the lower console price we will start seeing the PS3 pull closer to the 360. I am wondering how long they can sustain the lower price. Every article I read, right around launch time, said that the PS3 was being sold at a loss. This $100 price drop is just more of a loss...unless something has changed. I don't know if it will ever catch up. What made the PS2 so popular, at least with the people I know, was the number of exclusive titles. From what I have read, I don't believe that is going to be the case this time around. Time will tell I guess. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Even if the Wii is a fad, Nintendo is going to be laughing all the way to the bank.
I bought a PS3 and the game Resistence: Fall of Man. I got the game yesterday and the PS3 back in May. I am not a big gamer, so I get killed really, really quick, but it is fun. The only problem is my TV will only do 480i, 480P, and 1080i and Resistence wants to display at 720P. Therefore, I have to play the game at 480P. |

| Posted: | | | | I learned with Risistance that you get killed quickly and play on the easy level, don't try to play it safe. Just charge in and start shooting like you're a mad man.
Of course, it helps once you get infected and can heal. |
