There is the original DVD release, of a cleaned-up broadscast version, and there is the "remastered with new CGI effects and additional editing on the flip side of the HD discs" version. x: The identifier (such as this: DiscId.DiscNumber.DiscSide.EpisodeNumber) would solve your concern.
Also some of the Dr. Who episodes were released in a broadcast and a "special edition with remastered soundtrack and additional scenes" version. x: I figure this is something to be put in the Overview field.
Not trying to shoot the idea down, just trying to get the brain trust "imaginerring" some enhancements. x:

But the main thing I am missing... and why I would still really like to see something like this is for tracking what I watch. x: What about overview or more accurately "episode guide"?
At this point I still need to keep a txt file to remind myself what episode I left off one (if I don't complete a full disc) x: Ouch!
Of course if there was a way to make it all stay as disc level profiles (or parent level for those that only want that) so that you can say which features (and I mean main features like episodes or movies where more then 1 per side) have been watched or not I would be happy with that. I am not missing the overview per episode as I already have that at disc level.... it don't hurt that much to have to scroll between 4 and 8 episodes (usually) to see what an episode is about. and if I don't have that at this point I usually do have the EPG in the html window. But at the same time... I am not against episode level profiling. Just don't seem as urgent to me as it once was is all. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Pete is correct. Through Disc Level profile we have access, in a much more manageable form, to virtually ALL relevant data for every episode. There are some notable exceptions such as Episode runtime that while a good piece of data, is low on my own priority list. In terms of televison, ihave not yet seen an instance where there was a variation in Video format or Audio specifications. We also can't define which Episode(s) have the Commentary..yet.
Patience. But I still simply don't comprehend what adavntage is gained by parent profiles, the data set is too large to easily deal with, and at least I have the Runtime for each disc and can tell which disc has the Commentary, not just that somewhere in there is Commentary. I still believe parent profiles brings absolutely nothing of value to the table, but for those of that like it, to each his own.

| Posted: | | | | As I said... my biggest reason for wanting episode profiling is for the watched feature... though I would be fine the watched programing was just changed to allow to work with all main features (episodes... more then 1 movie per side) on the disc. In one of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season sets... the episode "Once More with Feeling" ... the Buffy musical episode... is the only episode released in widescreen! So it can happen... has happened... and probably will happen again! | | | Pete |
