Not sure. I've not had the time to test with a Blu-ray yet and it's only a minor inconvenience at this point. I don't know enough yet to track it down to any particular sequence of events. If I can reproduce it, then I'll try it with a Blu-ray. But I probably won't have the time to mess with it until the weekend. I believe I found the cause last night. It seems to be doing it when I resume a DVD. I made sure the sound was good last night and put in my Oz disc. No sound. So I turn off the receiver and turned it back on and got sound. Then I realized I was on the wrong side of the disc, so I flipped it over and it play just fine with sound. The only difference is that I hadn't played that side before, so it started from the beginning of the disc. Then I quit out of the player, then played the disc again (obviously it resumed this time) and I got no sound. Now that I know how to reproduce it, I'll try to check it out with a BD this weekend. Of course I first need to find one that is profile 1.0 so the resume will actually work. But it shouldn't be too hard to pick the disc with the oldest release date. The good news is it's an easy fix of course. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | Yea, they pulled the update fairly early yesterday...at least it was fairly early Pacific time. Consider yourself lucky. Some people couldn't even get their systems to boot up once they processed the update. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Have you downgraded to the older version? If I read it right, that is what they are doing now. Btw, I have to thank you for the 'Burnout Paradise' reccomendation. It is a very enjoyable game...except that my 7 year old keeps telling me to drive safely. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | They have a free update due out next week (the 10th). LOTS of changes if you do online racing. A few night cars. I think it's the next update that will add nighttime mode and motorcycles. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | I have been having the no sound problem since 06/21/08 when I watched Christine on SDVD. It worked fine until I was about half way finished with the deleted scenes. The scene I was watching had sound but then the next on throu the end did not. I started a featurette and discovered no sound there either. I turned my receiver on and off several times but it did not matter. The weird thing was that I could play the movie with sound, but the special features would not have sound. I kept turning the receiver on and off and changing the sound input method and finally got the sound back. It happened the next day with Born Ultimaum also.
I am on version 2.36. |

Why would I be on a witch hunt? I just figured your post had something to do with the thread title.
I mean, I have seen how you react when other people make comments that have nothing to do with the thread title. I didn't think you would do the same thing. I guess I was wrong. "Total sum" would mean it has something to do with this thread. "Total sum" would include this firmware update as well...just in case you missed that. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

I am glad I missed the update this morning. According to several sites (I linked to one earlier), 90% + people haven't noticed any issues. I am one of those in the lucky overwhelming majority it seems. Blu-ray, DVDs, CDs, games, work without fail and so does the In-game XMB. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

You didn't include the term "total sum" in your original post and, from what I can tell, MS does not charge for the comparable features that were available in this latests firmware update. That means your post had nothing to do with the thread title...which was about the latest update. Blu-ray, DVDs, CDs, games, work without fail and so does the In-game XMB. And your point is what? It seems there were enough issues for Sony to pull the update. It seems there were enough issues for Sony to prompt people to 'update' to an older version. As I said, a bad update is bad. The fact that most users had no problems doesn't change that. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. It seems you are correct, I read the following statement from one of Mark's links: It now appears that Sony has since pulled the newest update, reverting back to firmware 2.36 as the most recent available version. We were just prompted to download version 2.36 after having skipped the most recent pair of PS3 software updates.I missed the part where they say the skipped the last two updates. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
