I think it better to keep it off the forum, where it cannot be interfered with.

It is up to you but, as I said, you will probably have better luck getting Ken and Gerri on board if it is hosted here.

Ditto. And the only people who could interfer with it if it was hosted here is Ken or Gerri, so I don't see that as being a very big obstacle.

Agree it would be better hosted here.

The thread on the old site was pinned by Ken, may be worth sending him a PM to broach the subject and see if he would take the same step here.

I thought it useful to give the single page approach a try.
It came in under 700Kb -- not too bad.
Does anyone have a problem with a page that big?

Once again, you aren't paying attentiomn to what people are advising you, dav4is. You need to involve Ken and Gerri and forget using an off site premise, we have already BTDT with that concept and it while nice it didn't fly well. Get out of your own world and pay attention we are trying to help you

Half the people who voted advised him to continue doing what he is doing. Half the people who posted also told to continue on the path he is going. To say he is not paying attention is unfair. Just because he is paying attention to the advice other thant what you feel is right doesn't mean he's not paying attention.

For the record, I agree 100% with the stance Skip has taken (as have others) regarding how to proceed. I have been involved in some off site work and it has never paid off. Without the support of Ken the majority of users will never even know it exists.

@Skip, we can't help it if he is listening to the wrong advice

@dav4is, Kudos for doing something. Just be carefully you don't waste a lot of time on something Invelos won't take advantage of. The best advice anyone could give you is to try to contact Ken or Gerri and get their input before going too far with either direction.

So do I. It would be a real shame to see what could be a viable asset go to waste because it happens to be hosted elsewhere.

Lots of benefit as a single page, but...
with 1200+ topics, the page would be too huge, I think. 750kb is my estimate.
What do you think?

I think you missed my point. If I would like to see an identical list of topics compared to Invelos site, why wouldn't I just go Invelos site feature request forum and click page 63?

Using your page doesn't differ from that any way, so why bother? On your page we can see 50 first words of every thread, but that doesn't help much. If I like to see what's in that thread, I have to click it open. So, i'm asking, what's the difference?

I think most of us would like to see a thread where the first post summarizes already asked FRs, not a list of FR threads, we already have that.

Correct, and _very_ useful way do this, is to do it in similar way as in a thread I gave you an example.

And the forum index pages don't give the beginning of the first message.

50 words is better than nothing.

So, go ahead and do it.

Except you asked a question in your original post:  "The question is: Will you folks find it useful?"

If you didn't want to know who would and wouldn't find it useful, and why, you shouldn't have asked that question.

So, you have expressed your opinion in response to my question. No problem.
I wasn't trying to discourage your opinion.

You also suggested an alternate approach, which I invited you to go ahead and implement.

Actually, that was Kulju.  I already maintain a thread on this site and don't have the time for another one.

You claim that you are here to 'improve the program'.  If that is the case, you should heed the advice given to you.  Quite a few of us have been doing this for a while and we know what does and does not work.  Off-site pages do not work as Ken, for whatever reason, does not visit them.

You are, of course, welcome to continue doing it your way.  If, however, your goal is to help improve the program, why would you put your efforts into something that Ken probably won't look at?

Improving the program is one of my goals, of course.
The Abstracts has a narrower goal: an aid to all Feature Requests Forum users, which they -- and you -- are free to use, or not, at their whim.

I will require a lot more convincing to put it on a Forum. The atmosphere is just too rowdy there.
And by convincing, I don't mean threats; I mean reasons why it would be better there. Why it would be more useful there.

Whether Ken decides to look at it or not is only a part of the issue.

Is there a place for it on Invelos that is not on a forum?

Ah, you noticed that ??

That would not be the first time a useful file would not be hosted by Invelos. We share our headshots databases outside of this site, and it works perfectly...
