Two types of mono audio but only one option

You just stand up from your chair, go near the speakers. I f the sound comes from the central speaker, it's 1.0. If it comes from the lateral speakers, it's 2.0. No need of any special software, but needs to watch the dvd...

If you're just using your ears, how can you be 100% sure that you've got dual-channel mono? Maybe you're just listening to an unimaginative section of stereo.

Also if doing it by ear you would need to make sure that your equipment isn't set to upmix the audio.

The question was not there. We assume that we have mono, and want to know if it is 1.0 or 2.0. The title of the thread is  "two types of mono audio but only one option".

I agree with you, but this is another problem.

Once again, this thread is only to ask the possibility to distinguish on profiles if it is mono 1.0 or mono 2.0. And when some people find that we already have enough hard-to-profile fields, I really think it's no hard at all , when you know it's mono. To be sure it's mono or not is much more difficult, but this problem already exists in dvdprofiler.

I would also like that option to separate between Dual Mono (sound from left and right speaker) and Mono (1 channel only, i.e Dog Day Afternoon is DD Mono, and have sound only through center speaker) So we could have a flag that distinguish between those soundformats, one for DD Dual Mono, and one for DD Mono. As people mentioned here, the usual is to make it dual mono, so the sound comes out of both frontspeakers, but it's more rarely that they have sound from just the center speaker. would be nice for statistic as one person mentioned here too

I, too would like to see the audio options expanded for 1.0 / 2.0 /3.0/ 4.0 /5.0 /5.1 /6.1 /7.1 

I mean,, if we are nit picky about all the other aspects of Invelos Profiler for details.. why skimp on the most obvious?? . I have a JVC audio receiver that reads and flags the speakers in use so I don't have to worry about where the sound is 'supposed'  to be coming even when on Mute..

What if the user only has a stereo setup with two speakers?
My Yamaha receiver only sends mono to the centre speaker if I select ProLogic mode. In the normal auto mode I get sound from the mains for both 1.0 and 2.0 mono.
