even Skip agrees that the rules need to be fixed (at least I understood him that way).
What he and several other users (me included) don't like is that some users break the rules intentionally.
Requesting a change is one thing, publicly announcing to break the rules is something completely different.

Please, be serious. You will never find anything where I asked to break the rules. I just ask that rules should be modified to correct typos, and use common sense  when odd issues appear. For that Skip compared me with gestapo and men of Vichy. And that is not an old thing, he did it again by PM  two weeks ago, explaining that he was correct from an american point of view.

I never understood why you are fascinated by this guy, and I'm sorry you made him your idol.

Skip is not my idol, it just happens that we have the same opinion in some cases.
I still think of me as being strictly neutral. But possibly that's only me, when I look through my recent postings I have to realize that I'm quite often on the lines of Skip. Once more: Surfeur, not everything I write is directly written for you or to be understood as an attack on you. Unlike your personal opinion I really have more important things to think about than you and how to hurt you.
But as I wrote on another occasion: "It's easy to offend someone who wants to be offended" or in your case: people looking for hurtful remarks will find them everywhere.

but that's the impression I had, possibly because I didn't pay the necessary attention, or possibly because in the more prominent topics this very often seems to be the case.

That is because of the nature of this medium.  When someone simply agrees with others in a thread, most simply make a single post to that effect and move on to other topics.  It can easily be missed.  However, when you disagree with others, then there can be (and often is, especially around here) lengthy back and forth, with both sides beating their points to death and usually repeating themselves at least ten times (yes, I am guilty of this as well).

I believe that even Skip would agree that we don't disagree on everything.  But when we do, we tend to get very "passionate" about our positions.
