Quote: The master database is a collection of profiles not a collection of changes to profiles. Any time that you update your profiles, you are comparing against the sum of all changes not the latest changes. I fully understand why you would want this feature, but I don't see how it could work without changing the structure of the master database, which would add a new set of problems.
pdf You should re-read the original post, since your comments aren't relevant to Panthoeon's suggestion/request. Pantheon is talking about voting on contributions, not on updating profiles.
When you evaluate someone's contribution you are comparing his version with what is currently in the database. You are only voting on the latest changnes, not the "sum of all changes."
If this topic were concerned with updating profiles, your comments would be pertinent. But they don't address the subject at hand. Why don't you re-read the original post? I read his post as asking for a tag to show at update time based on your "trust" of the user and/or their notes on the website. I was pointing out that at update time there is currently no way to connect an update to the user(s) that made the submission. Feel free to quote from the original post to show me how I am wrong. Of course you're right and I should follow my own advice and read THE WHOLE post before shooting my mouth off. Sorry about that, Chief. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |
