I bought big stick on numbers and numbered each box and I use the collection number in DVDP to specify which box and slot each disk is located. For example collection number 2099 is slot 99 in box 2.

I started to use similar boxes from DiscGear, as shelf space became a rarity in the house. I was wondering. Do you keep the covers or throw them away? So far I've not been able to part with them and keep them in transparent plastic in binder. It does take a long time, though, to catalog properly.

I have many cd/dvd jacket books ( buy at any dollar store) that hold up to 240 discs  or less.,, I then  inked with marker pens every other page at the bottom the page number .. and took all my ' keep cases only'  and threw away the plastic case and the paper insert ( actually I crammed the paper inserts into large cardboard box.. and kept a half dozen jackets )  All my discs in snappers  and all my box sets of three or more movies are stored in a midsized large shelving setup .. 

This now allowed my to get at least 75% of my titles into these cases which I then marked on the outside of each i.e. Case A 1  or Case A2  etc etc  Now I then individually have each of these dvd's into the slip cases starting at 001 002 003 004/..009 ..010 / 099/ 100 /240 having all the discs with three digits.  Now you use the slot and location in your profiler to categorize where these titles are.  Any double disc sets such Disc one  and Disc 2  I keep disc two upside down &  the other disc 1 which would  be straight up ...  I have my DVD profiler on my apple iphone so if I am looking for a title and have to walk downstairs to my locker area.. I am on the phone walking and which can quickly search  the data  ( Other/Discs ) in my 15 second walk to then find i.e.  AA3 jacket  slot 148//...  grab this  folder/  open to slot .....120/ 130 ..140 ---- Ah Ha!  148 ..and the disc is there waiting for me.. 

I figure when I'm gone...... and some lucky #$%^%$ gets my video library he'll (she) also gets my Invelos Profiler software program ( which is second to none than any other program you can buy for under $30,, ) to go with it and it will be kept up to date.... AND categorized to the letter  D.. 

With all my titles in profiler up to date and using thumbnail settings on a wooden shelf  six across ,, it looks better than any shelving arrangement I used to have in the past.....

Case Logic DVB-200 200 CD/DVD

At $31 you get 41 sleeves vs the 5pk of sleeves at $8-$10 per. I have found the sleeves on sales sometimes ofr around $6 but still not as good as just buying the binder.

If you look at the stock image it is a very nice leather or faux leather, the newer ones are a vinyl and look like poo.

About once a year, I print out an inventory report, and just check off that I have everything in the right order, or if I have a pile of DVD case sleeves or covers I need to print. Everything goes in the same ways its sorted in DVDP, thought I do change sort orders for things like James Bond movies, and the Indiana Jones box set which sorts off of Adventures of vs Indiana.

Figure out what works for you, and think it through, I have re done my collection method a hand full of times over the years as the collection grew because the previous system didnt work well with larger numbers.
