I know IMDB is not a great source, but according IMDB there's a second Robert Anderson with soundcredits. If that's correct Cool it and History Cold Case aren't valid for this thread. Is there anybody who can confirm this or can confirm both Robert Andersons are the same person? Thanks for your hint. Hopefully someone could help! | | | Hardy

It does seem to me that they're different, and I would therefore propose to remove 'Cool It' and 'History Cold Case: Series 1' from the list. Certainly 'History Cold Case' looks suspect, as that's a UK production with an all-British crew, while our man is an American. They're also both documentaries, and while there are exceptions to every rule, generally production sound mixers like this work on either films/TV or documentaries, but not both. As for counting the titles: an automated contribution filter ensures that both Robert Anderson, Jr. and Robert Anderson Jr., with and without the comma, are stored as "Robert Anderson, Jr." in the database. So shouldn't those be counted together? | | | Last edited: by T!M |

Luckily, it doesn't seem to matter in this particular case. It is the same as Yves saying JOSE SANTANA is José Santana. Individual variants have individual totals. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting ateo357: Quote: It is the same as Yves saying JOSE SANTANA is José Santana. No, it's most certainly not the same. Why? Because there's no filter for that. Once again, there's an automated contribution filter that ensures that both Robert Anderson, Jr. and Robert Anderson Jr., with and without the comma, are stored as "Robert Anderson, Jr." in the database. So while we can store "José Santana" as a common name in the database, we cannot store Robert Anderson Jr. as a common name in the database. So no, it's certainly not the same. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting AiAustria: Quote: This issue was handled here... and answered rather clearly. There we are, indeed. Now, with 13+3 titles, Robert Anderson, Jr. gets to 16 titles. If we discount 'Cool It' and 'History Cold Case: Series 1', as they seem to be for a different guy, Robert Anderson only gets to 15 titles. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

So according to the community decision and the two credits are not clear the common name actually is: Robert Anderson, Jr. Polls are not the final word in contributing. Never have been. The most used name in the credits is Robert Anderson. 2nd is Robert Anderson, Jr., The most used name that is auto-filter is Robert Anderson Jr. 3 different name variations 3 different totals. instructions do not say to add unfiltered and auto-filtered together to get a common name. Use the most credited variation for the common name. | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

Quote: Polls are not the final word in contributing. Never have been. Not final, but until better ore more information is provided, they reflect the common sense, which IS the final word until Ken overules it. you are confusing consensus with common sense. The poll results show consensus. There is no way to gauge how much common sense went into the vote of each person. There may have been alot of thought in their vote, could be little or no thought. So I guess if I contribute Robert Anderson as the common name, I'm correct per the rules contribution guidelines. And if someone else contributes Robert Anderson, Jr. as the common name, they're correct per the straw pole of 46 people who visited the forum and took time to vote. | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

No, if you don't accept the common name threads (with all their problems), you ignore Ken, who explicitly allowed documentation of common names contradicting the CLT. You can not chose on a case by case base. | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |
