Pretty harsh stuff from Joystiq but to be honest they do have a point. Still no BD 1.1, and no in-game XMB.
MS have announced the Xbox 360 Family timer to be released in "early December" which would suggest a date for the fall 360 update as features like this are usually added in the biannual dashboard updates. I'm sure I will enjoy the increase in functionality. I sure I will continue to enjoy the increased functionalities as they are released. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

Source: Gamasutra Good...some hard data. I was starting to think you were only capable of attacking one's character and not the information that people provide (like our 2 new visitors). It's nice to witness you stepping up out of the mire at times. I hope you can keep it up. I would like to know how that information means the X360 will REMAIN the lead platform for 3rd parties. If they want to sell anything to the other platform, they know they can't do it with crappy ports. The creators of COD4 had NO lead platform. We know how that turned out. Find someone with a 360 and copy of COD4. Then, rent or purchase COD4 for the PS3. Switch back and forth between sources and compare the graphics. The PS3 version has better graphics. We already know the games DiRT and Oblivion are better on the PS3. Those are 3rd party developers. I think 3rd party developers are starting to understand that they should not have a lead platform. If they do, it should be the PS3, because it can be ported easier from the PS3 to the X360 than the other way around. Infinity Ward (Kane & Lynch) thinks programming for the PS3 is "FUN" (Kotaku). | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles | | | Last edited: by Ascended_Saiyan |

| Posted: | | | | Because games take 2 to 3 years to develop on average. Games that leverage existing engines (such as madden or fifa, ea's biggest money earners in the US and Europe respectively) still take 1 year to develop.
If EA know right now that the 360 version of their games sell alot more on 360 than PS3 then that will be the lead platform. Because they cant see 2 or 3 years into the future with any certainty. Right now developers are scrambling to create wii games. You will see a huge rush of Wii 3rd party titles in about 1 to 2 years as companies release the titles they green lighted earlier this year once the install base of the wii became apparent. |

I have played COD4 on 360 and PC, I have read every review I can find on all 3 platforms, I have yet to find any review claim the PS3 version has "better graphics" than the 360. Please find some to back up your claims. In the mean time here is a split screen comparison from gametrailers.com. I'm sure you will see "A HUGE DIFFERENCE" but everyone else (who isnt demented) will see no difference whatsoever. I do know that a game such as COD4 is very heavily multiplayer based, and for that reason lends itself to 360 rather than PS3. The Live matchmaking and friends integration was superb in the 360 Beta, on a par with Halo 3s. There is no way that PSN can match it as an experience. Not until there is in-game XMB, cross game invites and presence and so on. A year into the PS3s life, the fact that Sony have made absolutely 0 progress on that front might indicate the benefits of a paying online console service. Quote: Infinity Ward (Kane & Lynch) thinks programming for the PS3 is "FUN" (Kotaku) When you make statements like this your total lack of knowledge of the subject at hand really gives you away. Infinity Ward are the developers of COD not Kane and Lynch. IO Interactive made Kane and Lynch and they are first time developers who have made a fairly uninteresting looking game. For every Dirt and Oblivion, there is Madden 08, NHL 08, Skate, Splinter Cell Double Agent, VF5, The Darkness, COD3, FEAR etc. What point are you trying to make? That multi-platform games are better on PS3?!! | | | Last edited: by stefc |

Just like you need above a certain screen size to see the difference between 720p and 1080p, you need a larger screen to see the difference between COD4 on both platforms if it's there is one. KNOWING THAT, I will do my own examination on my 70". Since it was stated that COD4 was better on the PS3, in the article I linked to a few pages earlier, I will test it out. Is that ok with you? X360 has that advantage, now. I know you have a hard time seeing a few months down the road, so we'll leave it at that. What I find funny is that 2 years into the X360 life and MS has made 0 progress on complex native 1080p titles might indicate the benefits of a PS3. Quote: When you make statements like this your total lack of knowledge of the subject at hand really gives you away. Infinity Ward are the developers of COD not Kane and Lynch. Interesting indeed. You simply must tell me how you came to such a grand conclusion! Infinity Ward didn't complain about development on the PS3 that I know of either. I noticed you really had nothing to say about IO saying that developing on the PS3 is fun. Come on man, that's pretty weak even by your standards. Quote: Since it was stated that COD4 was better on the PS3, in the article I linked to a few pages earlier Link the article, trying to find something in amongst the torrential mudslide of drivel you write is not easy. Quote: One word...HOME. X360 has that advantage, now. I know you have a hard time seeing a few months down the road, so we'll leave it at that.. Well when the service sees delay after delay after delay, Shane Kim and Microsoft's warnings to Sony that building an online service for consoles isn't as easy as it looks become strangely prophetic. To quote Kaz Hirai: "I personally am not satisfied with the current version of Home. This is a very big project for the PS3 and we want to make sure that we deliver to our hearts content. We hope everyone will look forward to its spring release next year." It will be more than "a few months" before a final version of home is released and alot longer than that before the service becomes any good, if it ever succeeds at all. Quote: What I find funny is that 2 years into the X360 life and MS has made 0 progress on complex native 1080p titles might indicate the benefits of a PS3. Again the term "complex native 1080p titles" is utter nonsense. The term "a large library of good games that sell really well" on the other hand.... P.S. What are these mythical "complex native 1080p titles" you speak of anyway? Quote: I noticed you really had nothing to say about IO saying that developing on the PS3 is fun. In their words: "In many ways it's a fun architecture to work on but definitely one that's also going to cost you some money because you need to write special purpose code for it." The 8th comment down sums it up: ... so basically he said it took more time and money to accomplish the same thing they did on the 360 version...despite the ps3 being the more expensive console...how is that positive for sony again? Quote: Most people know what's up at EA. Are you saying you aren't aware that EA has almost always been known as LAZY developers? LAZY developers? Is that why they are the biggest earners in the video game industry? Or do you call them lazy because they don't spend extra time and resources to bring their PS3 games up to par with the 360 versions even though their 360 sales are 13 times their PS3 sales? I take it you didn't take any business classes at school? Hold on, did you go to school? Or did Sony genetically engineer you and you were harvested as a fully grown SonyBot™? |
