Or even two would be soooo nice hehe If you don't mind using a plugin, "MyTabs" is about 90% complete. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |

You can dock it anywhere. Also you can see the edit tab dialog open with the custom column selection drop down. In the final stages of working on filters. Trying to use the ones you can save from main collections panel. Here is one with just the MyTabs window docked along side the main collection in normal, non-editing mode. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. As I understand it, the tabs are based on a filter definition, and the content may change automatically (AutoRefresh On), if a profile is changed and fits the filter criteria. It would be nice if you could dedicate a tab to flagged profiles, mainly, because you provide an optional one-click selection (again, if I understood you correctly), while the View Flagged plugin always requires a double-click. Bonus points, if the plugin doesn't require .NET. | | | Matthias |

Bonus points, if the plugin doesn't require .NET. I'm honored to get your feedback. Yes to the first, and "seems easy" to the second. But unfortunately, as you already know, I'm locked into .NET (man if I only had your skills ... sigh ... ). If you want to do a non-Net version, I can pull the plug on this ... maybe yours would be faster. I could release a Beta right now without the filtering, if anybody wants it. - Dockable - "Unlimited" tabs - Optional DVD profile display from selection within tab - Optional "Auto Refresh" when collection window changes - Two fixed columns and two customizable (had to start somewhere) - The customizable columns can be from any of about 100 database / related fields - Columns can be resized, switched in order and sorted A/D - Copy flags from any tab to main collection (to get reports, etc.) - Flags set/clear/invert - Tabs persist across sessions - Attempting to track style colors - incomplete at the moment Let me know, meanwhile I'll keep on truckin' ... Whoa, here's an idea: What if I had a dll available (heh heh, hint hint ) to me that took as input a profile id and the xml string representing the filter, and it just gives me back a true / false? I plan to use the Collection filters saved in XML format. I won't stop what I'm doing, but it would be nice to have a high-speed version. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. I currently cannot see the benefit of such a design. Some quick ideas regarding filter<->tab association: - Allow to optionally subset the filter with a collection type. - Allow assignment of an inverted filter, i.e. the tab will contain all profiles that don't match the filter. | | | Matthias |

I will put all your ideas in the queue. Thanks. Regarding the flags, I thought I was doing a good thing - it is certainly harder than simply copying the main collection flags. But I though the whole idea of custom tabs was to have multiple independent ways to manipulate views of the database. Maybe I could make it an option ... I can see the value of both approaches. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |

| Posted: | | | | "MyTabs" is still at 90% becasuse I keep adding stuff. Just added Goodguy's dedicated flagged tab, and I love it. It will not be affected by AutoRefresh, so it will always be on, and always have a current view of main collection flags - and yes, one-click displays the profile. Yum. Filter design concept: Filters can be defined and then enabled/ disabled and are expanded to be: (enabled/disabled) (not) CollectionFilter ---- (And / Or / disabled) ---- (not) ---- Supplemental Filter1 ---- (And / Or / disabled) ---- (not) ---- SupplementalFilter2 etc. Supplemental filters will be things that I have found requested by browsing the forums, such as: - existence of notes / eastereggs / .... - collection type - expanded runtime (something about cast / crew - I forgot) .... No need to add tags, as they are already in the main collection filter (I wish somebody would collect them all and post - I'll try to include as many as possible) I will be travelling for a couple of days. When I get back, I plan to release a Beta with limited filtering to play with and get feedback on bugs and suggestions. In Release 1 will try to include priority data sections from main collection filter (the ones that you can save and load), plus supplemntal filters. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | Well, "MyTabs" is at least 2-3 times more work than I thought. So, I have a Beta available to test the waters if could be useful to anybody before I decide whether to finish it. Obviously I put in stuff that is most useful to me - just in case there is no demand from others. To get it, go to www.mediadogg.com and logon to the Beta Testers Only page, using ID = mytabs, password = beta. Ok, what the Beta will do:
- Create a dockable "MyTabs" window - Define "Unlimited" tabs - each with it's own label and filter - Optional DVD profile display from selection within tab - Optional "Auto Refresh" when collection window changes (not everything) - Two fixed columns and two customizable - The customizable columns can be from any of about 100 database / related fields - Columns can be resized, switched in order and sorted A/D - Copy flags from any tab to main collection (to get reports, etc.) - Flags set/clear/invert - Tabs persist across sessions - Attempting to track style colors - incomplete at the moment - Added main collection flag tracking as a tab property
Each tab can have filter. The filter can be enabled/disabled. The filter will have two parts:
(1) Main filter defined and saved from collection window. This can be separately enabled/disabled. (Not available in Beta)
(2) Supplemental filter applied on top of the main filter. Supplemental filter can be seperately enabled/disabled. Initial fields:
- Collection type equal /not equal - Tag (not) equal / (not) contains / (not) not empty
(Beta ANDs the results, but the design calls also for OR)
You will see Location, Slot, Notes, Eggs and RunTime - but the code is incomplete and disabled in the beta.
Some examples of what you can do:
- Set up a tab for tracking "For Sale" items - Set up a tab for WishList - Mom's Gifts ( Collection = WIshlist, TAG contains "mom") - Set up a tab that tracks flagged items in the main collection. Click to select. - Customizable "Double click" - but I need ideas for what to put in - Manage flags within each tab, and copy flags to Main Collection to run reports, save XML, etc.
There is a tab editor and supplemental filter editor , and all tab and filter settings are saved across sessions.
Don't expect any blazing speed.
Looking forward to your feedback, comments, suggestions. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |
