I've edited the first post, removing the Alien Quadrilogy as it's the same case type as the Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition, and removing Legend as it was a digipak and irrelevant to the topic.

Ok, so I submitted a contribution about 24: Season 1 and submitted that it's a "Digipak, Slip Cover". Is that correct? I looked at the Buffy example which is the same thing... Just curious.

Excuse me for being late to this dance, but Northbloke is dead wrong. His pictures are correct but everyone of them is a Slip Case, he seems to be trying to apply two different definitons to the SAME thing depending upon the conditions. Slip COVERS have ONE single opening, slip Cases have TWO, by the definition that I see it appears to me that either the Slip Cover or the Slip Case tickbox is not necessary, we don't appear to need boith which simply silly since they are TWO different items. Do I understand it correctly.

Under the system as it is designed RIGHT NOW. If the tick box is checked for Slip Cover then you define the type of internal case, Keep, Digipak, Calmshel etc. But if it is Slip Cover there is no additional data available, so as would be typical, the Parent would be Slip COVER and the Children would be Keep, Digipak, Clamshell etc. This method would be consistent with the way it has been done the last two plus years. Something else seems a bit of a nightmare.

Sorry Skip, but it is you that is dead wrong.  I guess you missed Ken's post on page two where he says, and I quote, "All look correct. Thanks!"

In addition, he also said this about when to use Slip Case and when to use Slip Cover:

Quoting Ken Cole:
Quote:
Slip Case should be used when the profile itself has no other case.  If the box set includes individual cases for children, all surrounded by a slip case, the box set profile will have slip case as the case type and the children will have their individual case types.  If the box set has a single multi-disc case surrounded by a cover, use the multi-disc case type for the box set and check the slip cover checkbox.

I'll take a stab at wording this succinctly for inclusion in the rules.

I hope this clears up any confusion you might have.

You have it correct.  According to Ken, you only use 'Slip Case' when there are multiple cases inside.  You use 'Slip Cover' when there is only one case inside, as there is in this set.

I saw Ken's comment but it seems inconsistent and applying TWO separate definitions to what is essentially the same thing. What is the difference between Alien Quad and the Indiana Jones set. The external cases are IDENTICAL, they are Slip Cases, the difference is internal, Digipak versus Keep Cases.

I am not questioning Ken and if he can explain this great. I see no difference in the handling here than as we have always done it. Why Would Indy be a Slip case and Alien Quad not, I see mass confusion.

I didn't say it wasn't inconsistent.  However, Ken said that we only use Slip Case when it contains more than one case.  So, the difference between Indy and Alien Quad is that Indy has 4 individual cases inside while Alien Quad has a single Digipak inside.

Per Ken, Indy gets Slip Case and Alien Quad gets Slip Cover.

We no longer make a difference between a Slip Cover and a Slip Case in DVD Profiler.

Furthermore, what used to be a Slip Case can be profiled as Slip Case or Digpak-Slip Cover, depending on the profile configuration.

Skip, if this feels odd to you, please do not spread confusion in this threa but PM Ken directly.

This was a public service announcement. Thank you very much. We now return to regular programming.

Precisely what I meant by TWO different definitions for the SAME thing, Achim and I have PM'd, Ken. the difference between me and some users is that I won't whine about it incessantly. If I can get it to make sense then I will be happy to Contribute the data and vote on it, if I can't I will equally happily keep the data in a form that makes sense to me and not vote on them. That is after all what i tell other users to do...is it not. Like I said no skin of my nose either way.

There was a long thread preceeding this one (Dan posted a lot in it), where this was discussed and Ken also eventually added his conclusion. You may want to re-read that to find out what Ken's idea is.

Actually, I believe he is doing what you so often do to the rest of us and that is to point out that it was Ken's decision.  He explained it.  Who are we to question it.  We should just live with it.

Please note that I have not spoken to Achim on this subject.  What I just wrote is 100% speculation and 100% my opinion.

For those that are completely clueless. let me reiterate to make it perfectly clear to those of lower intelligence. I see a problem that makes no sense to me, if i can wrap my brain around it I will be happy to contribute, irf I not I will be equally happyto keep my data to myself in this regard. Now if that is still too complex to be understood, i will happily talk to you like a I would a 4 year old. Get it. Good. Thank you for your lack of support in trying to understand this and make sense of it.

I have a few ideas of what you can do with your attitude. BOTH of you. If you want to try and mentally joust with me, great, you aren't in my league, so let's play children

Some people just love to take a thread and derail it, Achim. If you really enjoy mental masturbation, have at it bud. But not here, i am looking for something i can make sense of, that does not include your smartass comments.
