I think that you're drawing far too many conclusions there to keep me comfortable (I'd rather assume the best). I've seen enough to believe that his simply doesn't care (as you say), but I'd rather believe that just doesn't understand.

In any case, what you're describing is a pretty good definition of the parent ego state, with some allusions to the child ego state - i.e. exactly what I see as well. Taking one ego state or another is not necessarily a problem (although it can be obstructive), it's the unpredictable responses and flip-flopping states that build the anxiety. For example, funkyLA lives in a perpetual mischievous child state, but that doesn't cause any problems because it's predictable. I've got a tendency towards the parent ego state (although I try to stay in adult), but that's okay because people can learn to associate that with me.
