According to several sites (I linked to one earlier), 90% + people haven't noticed any issues. I am one of those in the lucky overwhelming majority it seems.
Blu-ray, DVDs, CDs, games, work without fail and so does the In-game XMB.
And your point is what? It seems there were enough issues for Sony to pull the update. It seems there were enough issues for Sony to prompt people to 'update' to an older version.
As I said, a bad update is bad. The fact that most users had no problems doesn't change that. Here's a percentage for ya. I bet a few consoles have issues everytime a new firmware is released (MS, Sony, etc.). Therefore, it's really about numbers (how many). That's my point. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles | | | Last edited: by Ascended_Saiyan |

I fully admitted that I came to the wrong conclusion. I mistakenly thought your post had something to do with the title of the thread when it didn't. You, on the other hand, keep pretending that it did...I call that spin. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I guess they felt the numbers were large enough. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Fortunately for the consumer, Sony doesn't think the same way you do as they pulled the update. I guess they felt the numbers were large enough. That or they didn't want to risk it becoming large. The update was only up around 12 hours or so. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

What I am sick of, and it hasn't and won't happen here.... is everywhere I read about this problematic f/w release, those whiney little no-nothing kids say that "maybe next time Sony should test something before they releaes it".
Uhm, they did! They didn't have any consoles bricked so they released it. Obvously, something happened when people were downloading it. A theory is that, there was a server hickup and a lot of people only got 98% of the update, yet the PS3 thought it had 100%. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

(...) A theory is that, there was a server hickup and a lot of people only got 98% of the update, yet the PS3 thought it had 100%. If that is the case, Sony needs to take another look at their update procedure. It isn't that hard to make the system verify that what was recieved, matches what was sent. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | The official word is that the f/w update caused data corruption on the HDD's. This is why a format was able to fix the issues for those that decided to format the HDD.
Customers with the issue are being asked to call Sony Customer Service. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |
