Believe it or not Steven Sansweet is the foremost authority on Star Wars per George Lucas.  Hopefully, George will sit down with him they will choose the aspects they want to see and then turn them over to a fantastic writing team for Episode 7.  That was the perfect world version, this is what happens in the Disney world, I think we need something with a talking tree.  The Jedi are now Teletubby wannabees and the leftover Imperial forces carry guns that say "BANG" when fired.  Don't get me wrong I love Disney I just didn't want to see the franchise get anymore childish than it already has.  Mel Brooks makes the joke in Spaceballs, "Who knows, with any luck we'll see each other again in Spaceballs 2 The Search for More Money."  I am just afraid that Star Wars will now be the new Disney cash cow.

Where did this come from...? All I remember is 9, but I have never heard of 12 myself. George of course would disagree with both of us, his memory only suggests a hexalogy...

It was from Time Magazine.  You have to be a member to see it now, but here is my original post from 2010.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Indeed.  With Marvel, Disney showed that they can take a hands off approach.

As for what the next films will entail, based on the interviews I have seen, basic story treatments already exist.

Yes, he hes written quite a few treatments.  I'm curious if these will actually be used, or if they are just stroking his ego.  I'm hoping the latter, while I enjoyed the prequels on some level, it certainly wasn't for the 'story'.  So if he has some good ideas in the treatments that's a bonus, but I hope that they don't feel beholden to Lucas's ideas on how the story should proceed.

On the flip-side, of course, is all the animation since absorbing Pixar...showing that they are perfectly capable of screwing the pooch.  Lately, the track record has shown Avengers to be the exception, not the rule.

By whom?  And 12?  I'd heard it was 9.  I suppose your are still mad at Santa Claus because you still haven't got what you were promised as a child?

What are you talking about?  Why do you care?  It's obvious you aren't interested in seeing in new SW films, which you have every right to feel that way.  But why do you care if they make more?  If you don't want to see them, then don't, it's very simple.  There are many SW fans that are excited for new films, myself included.  I'm not a prequel hater, but they didn't come close to the originals.

But I can't understand why you care that other people are excited.  And you still didn't answer my question, what films have been "necessary"?

Maybe things were different when you were a child, but Santa Claus never promised me anything and, honestly, you are the one who sounds mad as illustrated by this lame attempt at ridiculing me.

You are correct, he didn't promise, but he did say that he was going to make 11 sequals.  Had I know people were going to be that anal about this, I would have chosen a better word.
