| Posted: | | | | I pointed out what I see wrong with the PS3, and you're still calling me a fanboy? If that ain't the pot calling the kettle, I don't know what is. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

Just ignore him or use the blocking feature of the forums. I really enjoy reading this section of the site more than most others and would hate to see it die off again. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | Ok, infrequent poster here, so don't flame me......
I had to post as I just don't 'get this' arguement at all.
Surely HD is a good thing right ?? As film buffs, many with huge collections, we all enjoy the film experience. None of us (I would have thought), are sill buying films on video tape after all. So I would have thought that pretty much everyone here would be embracing at least the concept of a hidef format. We've all seen the demos -- with the right gear hidef video looks bloody fantastic.
So now there is a winner in the format stakes -- for WHATEVER reason, Sony (not the inventor, but a major backer) of Bluray won out. ALL interested parties, including the film studios are going to talk up bluray until they are, err, blue in the face. You wouldn't expect them not too.
Sure Bluray IS expensive -- thats the only reason I haven't bought into it. Yet. But I will, not because I love Sony or hate Toshiba but because there is now just the one format, and Bluray it is.
What I really REALLY don't get is this fanboy-ism !!!! A lot of poeple can't see past their pet hates, and maybe past purchasing mistakes. I know someone who held out on DVD for years simply because he had invested heavily in Laserdisc.
So does it really matter that Sony backs Bluray? If you care so much don't buy a Sony player -- there are other choices. Or don't buy it at all, but why deny yourself a step up in quality that hidef gives you?
I' still very confuses by this whole nonsense !!
There - that's my pennies worth !

I had to post as I just don't 'get this' arguement at all. I don't think anybody really gets it. Most of us are more than capable of having a very reasonable discussion on the topic and enjoy sharing info back and forth. There's just one person in the mix who can't seem to relax and enjoy hanging out and talking HD with the rest of us. And now that HD DVD is gone, I'm not really sure that I understand it either. He's like a crashed soldier on a desert island still trying to fight a war that has been over for a very long time now. Most of us have Blu-ray or plan to get it at some point. We're all on the same team here. What's left to bicker about? Anyway, if this person would dial back the nonsense, I have no doubt that he's more than capable of being a very productive member here and has a lot to bring to the discussions. It just makes no sense. So, I wonder if this post will get me another red mark. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.
