| Posted: | | | | A field that might be useful for several DVDs is a slot for spine numbers. There are dozens of DVD labels who assign spine numbers for their DVDs (The Criterion Collection, Masters of Cinema, Dragon Dynasty, Fox Studio Classics, Fox Film Noir, etc.). It would be nice for the program to be able catalog these. |

Would that include Distribtor's Catalog # if available? In which case the field would need to be alpha-numeric.

| Posted: | | | | not a bad idea. I have used that number with anime titles where all DVDs lack anything explaining what episodes are on what disk then I can place them in order on the shelf. | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. |

Skip Sure, why not? The idea is to have a field available for numbers that are universal on the DVD as part of a collection. For example, the DVD "KillZone" is numbered 1 on its spine as the first title for Dragon Dynasty. Number 2 is "Police Story". Criterion numbers their titles, starting with "Grand Illusion" as number 1, "Seven Samurai" is number 2 and so on. Same goes for Masters of Cinema in the UK, Fox Studio Classics, Fox Film Noir -- even the Shirley Temple Collection has numbered their films inside from 1-15. More and more studios are doing this to add to the collectors' mentality that many of us have ("I've got to collect them all!"). I currently use my "Collection Number" field to keep track of these spine numbers, but most of the users here need that to number their own DVD collection. |

So far I have done this for my Criterion stuff, keeping the Spine number in the Notes.... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |
