I would like a sort by "Last Added" column choice in the title view. There is a "Last edited", but this does not serve the purpose I need which is to view the most recent dvds I have added to my collection.
Also I don't utilise the "purchase date" feature so cannot use this option.
Thanks Rich | | | |

| Posted: | | | | I'm curious Rich, are you using collection numbers in order of addition, or do you renumber to some other scheme? If collection numbers are assigned as you add DVDs, that would do exactly what you want. OTOH, purchase date will give you what you want also.
Given those 2 methods of tracking how profiles are added to your collection, what other method could Ken add without changing the db to allow for some unseen key that is sequential to adds? As far as I know, there is no other way of determining when a title is added, so it would require quite a bit of work on Ken's part to add this feature and it would not be backwards compatible with the existing db if you don't already know the order in which they were added. Seems to me you would be better off trying to use the available feature (purchase date or collection number) to achieve this. | | | Kevin |

Thanks Rich If you don't utilise the 'purchase date' then surely that would be your 'last added' date? Or am I missing something? | | | Guns don't kill people. Hammers do. |

I wish I had done this from day one, but I was a relatively late starter with dvdp and had to input a collection of a few thousand without any purchasing data. Hindsight ..... Good point Kev, I guess day one for added would be my entire current collection. If the data exists for last edited - why wouldn't it be available for last added to someones collection?

Perhaps as there is not a great support for this idea then there is probably not a great need by other users. guess I may have to start utilising the 'purchase date' fields for newly added dvds.

Yes - you order by title. But are your collection numbers just added as you add dvds? In which case you can just sort by collection number. The collection number is separate from the order in which all the dvds are displayed. | | | Paul |
