| Posted: | | | | I would like to suggest either email based or maybe a screen that pops up when you download a new profiles update that provides important information such as new rules updates or other things that everyone should know. I read the forums a lot, but I don't read everything. I am sure not every user goes through the forums daily. I mean how many of you read forums for every piece of software you use? | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. |

I don't generally read forums at all for other software unless I have a problem I can't solve. But, Profiler is one of the few I've run across that isn't strictly for product support. The very nature of movies, the "idea" of film itself, and all of that combining on DVDs, makes it pretty unique. So, I spend an inordinate amount of time on any given day on here. If you find one (a life) let me know what the UPC is so I can buy one myself and add it to my local database | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. | | | Last edited: by schultzy |

I remember on the old board Ken was very wary about not to send to many mails to the users. besides there is a whole lot of them, so there would be quite a few mails having to be sent. Possibly this could be made opt-in, so that one could choose to receive such mails. (While I look at almost all threads, I still would like to receive certain announcements by mail, e.g. for Rules modicfications.) | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | I agree Achim, rules revisions email announcements would be nice. I too, read all of the forums (except translations, since "Oui" is the only French I remember from high school). | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | Personally, I'd prefer a RSS feed for rules revision, new version, and other announcements. By defition, RSS is opt-in, and both Firefox and IE7 support it natively now.
But I agree with the general idea. | | | Last edited: by RossRoy |

But I agree with the general idea. I second a RSS feed because that's a lot less trouble for Ken (unless the forum software already supports MAIL ALL or similar) and definitely the technology currently replacing the "old" newsletters. While i could read both (rss & newsletter, at least if it allows a seperate mail adress from the main one) with Bloglines RSS is more comfortable | | | - Jan |
