| Posted: | | | | I think we need all versions of a title in the DB by UPC. This could be accomplished by adding a check boxes to designate a re-release like re-release 1, re-release 2, and so forth. This way we could keep track of all version of a title and everyone could contribute their version and/or download their version, not just the initial release using that UPC. |

| Posted: | | | | That's a good question? 8Ball, the only thing that comes to mind is US. In Region 1, I would know 95% of the time, of course there is the remaining 5% perhaps someone else might know. There is an awful lot of knowledge in the Community.

If it cannot be determined which one was first, then everyone can contribute their version of the disc and be right causing the profile to flip flop a lot. Maybe it can be version contributed instead of re-release. I was going to update the profile for The Abyss this weekend because it was different that what I had. When I went to contribute, I saw that Skip was the last to contribute and I stopped because I figured he had the 1st release and mine had to be a re-release. My version of Abyss is a valid DVD, and should be in the DB just like Skip's version and users should have the otion to download which ever version they bought. I bought the Abyss 07/14/03 and the DB says it was released on 03/05/02. | | | Last edited: by Boykin |

(actually, as I have said in the past I would take you word for many things. This being one of them) I understand, rick. Which is also why I posted the comment the way that I did, the idea does not make me all that comfortable, I also recognize that in region 1 I will be right only 95% of time, I have no doubt that are some titles I am unfamiliar with. as for other Region, hopefully they would have their own "Skip". But as for the real Skip, there can be only one....thank GOD!!!!!!!!!!! Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

On the Abyss, yes mine is the Original release for that UPC. If I am correct your re-release has a white background...yes?

Skip Nope. The case is black with a diver in blue light. The difference is mine dose not have trailers, no featurettes, no deleted scenes. And now I do not see you as a contributor. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah Erik made a big change...COO Mikkel has one pending adding the SE crew using dividers. Fox has done some serious screwing around with this particular title and why they haven't chosen to change the UPC# is more than I know. They have yet another release of it on the way...in a steelbook. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Do me a favor. I set up a contribution to see what was different. I closed the window without canceling or submitting the contribution and now it shows on my contribution list. I cannot withdraw it. Someone please check to make sure the contribution is not showing up. UPC 024543-036739. |

| Posted: | | | | I have a few DVDs at home that are no in the database because their re-releases with same UPC and Disc ID. They are usually very easy to identify, just read the small print at the bottom to find the "Packaging date", it the year doesn't match the year doesn't match the original release year then it's a rerelease.
I would actually go further than a simple check box, I would add a "Release Year" field so if there's more than 2 we can even know in which order they came out. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W |

| Posted: | | | | Do the discs have different id's?
Maybe a composite primary key based on UPC and disc id for rereleased titles...
Just a thought. |
