| Posted: | | | | Please add the above, it's there as a subtitle option. This is long overdue IMO It's something I ask for years back and have wanted ever since I've been using DVDP. Thanks. |

| Posted: | | | | I'll back this, and with a good reason. Unlike so many requests for languages which are specific to a geographic region, this one's having impact globally. With the rising popularity of Tony Jaa it's likely that we'll continue to see Thai movies released overseas. Thai movies are becoming increasingly popular. Three examples I can immediately think of are:
Ong Bak Tom Yum Goong (US: The Enforcer / UK: Warrior King) Tears of the Black Tiger | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

Not only do we need it for the US releases (the films of Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Panna Rittikrai, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, etc.), but also for its own locality, which often have English subtitles. This is important since it draws alot of international attention toward their product, rather than just local. |

Oh, and "Not only do we need it for the US releases"? How about R2 UK, R4 AU, etc.? | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

I wrote "US" when I meant to say "Western". I actually have a few Thai films from R2 UK (it is the only place I could find with a widescreen version of Bangkok Dangerous). Interestingly, when I was digging through some of my boxes I had stored away recently I found an old copy of "Asian Cult Cinema" magazine from about six years ago. There was an article about the impending explosion of Thai Cinema on the international market, citing films like Tears of the Black Tiger, Bang Rajan, Bangkok Dangerous and 6ixtynin9. Of course, it still hasn't happened, but thanks to Tony Jaa and Panna Rittikrai, more people are starting to take notice. |
