| Posted: | | | | Can you add this feature to the main screen. I use a barcode scanner to add DVDs to my collection. I would like to be able to just do the same when i search for it when i loan the DVDs to my friends and family |

| Posted: | | | | I too have requested this feature before if it would make it easier for the company take the Type Title to find field at the top of the program and just have that search engine search all fields regardless of the information within the fields. I have never understood why the company would be against adding that feature. Other database programs allow you to search in that manor and it is a highly desired feature. I use my Flic scanner all the time and would like it to be more useful within this program |

| Posted: | | | | I had the same question but it seems that this feature is left out because they don't want the program be used in a comercial way. (video stores etc.)

| Posted: | | | | Well that is a fairly accurate comment, i think wima. The Programs that have that capability and are intended for rental use cost MANY times more than this program, I have wondered before about this particular question. I encourage all users to read the Blockbuster in my signature, good for a laugh. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | This may be true - however keep in mind you can not add more then one of any upc to your database... and what movie store only has one of every movie... i doubt it'd be entirely good for that use, however... that being said..... is typing the first few chars of the name that awful? | | | -JoN |

| Posted: | | | | TLEVEL - I too would love to have that plugin because it would make things a little easier for me from time to time. Just like ruineddaydreams mentioned it would be increadibly hard to use this program to do mass rentals it would require you to create new personnalized barcodes for every item and change the real UPC to your new UPC just to see if this would even work and chances are that they thought of that and found a way to prevent that. Not to mention that there is no billing process included in the program. For people opening a rental store they are not going to want a lot of features that this program has. Alternatively they would require many features that this program does not have the least of which is the ability to seach by bar codes. |

Thanks a million your program is a great new addition to the DVD Profiler world. Your program actually looks like it is going to solve two problems for me. Not only can you use it for a quick search tool but by using the Flag Profile option you can also use it to take an inventory of your collection. I haven't used the DVD Profiler for very long because I gave up on the previous version but all one should need to do is run a report on non-flagged profiles (if possible) and they would have a list of missing dvds. That makes keeping track of 607 DVD much easier. It even works with my Flic barcode scanner that has a memory of the last 500 barcodes. It would be great if you could make the plugin skinable or at least make it so you could choose different colored backgrounds to include gradients. It would be really cool if you could incorperate a Audit button that when clicked listed all the non-flagged profiles but just a suggestion. I'm sure that all the people looking for an easy way to do an audit/inventory check would love your plugin. |

Glad you like it, I'll look into making the background colour something that follows along with the theme pick of dvdp. As for the non-flagged profiles report, all you should have to do is flag all the profiles that you want with your scanner and then Collection -> Flags -> Invert Flags, this should then flag all your profiles that you didn't scan and you could run your report that way. Not sure if this is what you meant though.
pdf,
Send me a PM and I can email it to you if you want. | | | The Other DVD Forum Why do people who know the least know it the loudest? |

| Posted: | | | | Hi Achim & mcart,
I sent you the file, hope everything works out for you.
@mcart, main feature of the plugin will allow you to quickly flag all the DVD's that you scan. I haven't looked at it in awhile, Ken added standard "Select by UPC", so didn't know if people would still be interested in this one or not.
Let me know what you guys think, if it's still worthwhile, I'll post it to the plugin site, whenever that comes up.
