| Posted: | | | | I'm sure this as probably be asked before but here goes would it be possible to add a check box so when a DVD is reissued you can add it to the data base. So when you make the changes to the existing profile you would contribute it but when you go to the contribution page there would be a check box that could say something like New/Reissue/New Edition so that the system knows not to overwrite the existing profile but to create another then when someone enters the EAN they would be given a choice of which one to download like at the moment you get differing regions to choose you could also have a choice of case type/edition allowing people to get the correct profile/Images for the version of the DVD they have. A example i have is The Ultimate Mummy Collection which was originally released in a digipack but was reissued in a Slip case with keep case's i can't upload the profile and images for this because the EAN and Disc images are already assigned to the digipack if you could upload it as a new submission people could then have the choice of downloading the profile and images for the one they have. Be gentle with me first post in features |

| Posted: | | | | How to contribute if one disc has two different movies? For me the correct way would be to use UPC for parent and then create two profiles using disc id with different titles as children. Now this is not possible. Why we can have same upc/disc id with different localities, but not same upc/disc id with different title? It doesn't make any sence. |

| Posted: | | | | This is a problem that Ken will have to address one way or another, sooner or later. How old are DVD's, 10 years, maybe a bit more ? There's gonna be more and more of those that went oop that will be re-released with different art-work and features.
If DVDP is aiming at becoming the most complete and accurate dvd database, it cannot keep the "Do not contribute re-releases" rule much longer.
My 2 cents anyway ! | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W |

My 2 cents anyway ! A agree. I would rather it be sooner then later. Only, this is not the only "problem" DP has. | | | Last edited: by xyrano |

Agreed it would be nice if it can be handled, but it needs to extend to disc id as well as UPC level as I have one or two box set films that are straight re-releases from other boxsets. I seem to recall somebody suggesting the program be set to use a combination of the UPC/disc id, I can't think of many scenarios where this wouldn't give a unique identifier. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

That might work for single disc movies and their reissues, but it would break box sets, which often depend on the disc ID to identify the individual components of that set. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | why not when you check the "Re-Issue box" that is being asked for, the program woufl add the letter "R" to the end of the EAN/UPC to signify it is a re-issue/re-release. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |
