| Posted: | | | | 1) = A field must be complete and correct. No exceptions! A vote here says that any field being contributed should be fully audited. (Uncredited not included because each uncredited individual must be verified individually)
2) = A field other than cast or crew must be complete and correct. A vote for this allows partial contributions for cast & crew but all other individual contributed fields must be complete, all must be correct.
3) = As long as it's correct, any change should be approved no matter how small.
The last poll proved that the members do not want to make full title audits for every contribution so I did not include that choice here. There is a bit of controversy over cast and crew, which is the reason for the reworded poll. | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

| Posted: | | | | I trust that the "except for cast and crew" refers back to Complete, and not to Correct... If so, that one has my vote. | | | Hans | | | Last edited: by Staid S Barr |

| Posted: | | | | Except for cast & crew for me, too. While it may seem to be nitpicking, how hard is it REALLY to make the Overview match the cover exactly (warts and all)? | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. | Posted: | | | | Are we really forced to enter edition and original title when we enter the title, even if we are not sure about what should be listed as edition or we don't care about the original title?
Do we have to enter all the twenty subtitles when all we care is the original language and our locality's language when could as well enter "English, German, Other"?
Do we have to enter three genres, if we can not decide which of the genres would fit as well, but we only care for the "main genre"?
Do we have to enter the country of origin whenever we add the production year?
Do we have to enter every little bit not covered by the standard features into other features, even if we think it's not worth a other feature entry?
Can't we enter a audio track language, if we are not able to determine its technical format?
Yes all of these are single contribution units. Why do we make an exception for cast and crew then? |

| Posted: | | | | The thing with cast and crew, crew unlike cast is multiple fields. Someone might be comfortable entering every section except sound credits. Which I've seen numerous contributions missing sound crew. I assume this is contributors may not be comfortable entering certain crew sections and instead of entering something that could be wrong they instead leave that part blank for some else to fill in that part. | | | Are you local? Or they do simply not care about the sound crew. I have seen various profiles where only the crew from the opening credits were listed usually omitting sound crew and art director. IMO a valid reason for omission. If somebody else cares for sound, he could always contribute the sound crew himself. And the same would be true for example for studios. If someone doesn't care or doesn't feel comfortable with distributors, he could leave them alone and still enter the production studio. | | | Last edited: by RHo |

| Posted: | | | | I think it would be easier for most people to accept someone knowingly contributing incomplete data (such as the crew, or only the first few episodes of a series) if they simply noted such in their contribution notes. Someone else can decide to pick up the mantle from there and complete them. Otherwise, most people simply assume they are complete. I would put "the great ' ' debate" under this same heading.
Then as an extension to this, if for instance someone misses a second typo when correcting a first and a voter points this out, they could show the courtesy of correcting this when it is pointed out, or if they disagree with it, why that is via PM. I think that's a terrific use of "yes with comments" votes. I have had this happen several times with contributions I have made and happily make the additional correction. At worst it is on the record and can be corrected by the next contributor.
Peace be with you all. |

| Posted: | | | | If someone is willing to upload a profile with 50% or 80% of the data entered and you say "NO, you have to do ALL of it or we don't want it" aren't you looking a gift horse in the mouth?
If I come home with 5 or 6 new DVDs I'm happy to find a half done profile to use as a starting point. After I add the stuff I'm most interested in the profile may have gone from 50% to 90% complete and some one else can fill out the rest if they care.
I think it's ALWAYS better to have half a profile then no profile. If all contributions have to be complete I think a lot of people just won't contribute. | | | Tom. |
