| Posted: | | | | Instead of copying/pasting the data, you could have a way to say that a profile inherits certain data (e.g. cast and crew, production year, country of origin, duration, ...) from another (parent) profile. Whenever the parent profile is modified, the child profile is also accordingly updated (either as a copy, or through some kind of linking, but this is design, not specification).
Of course, the child profile would be read-only on the inherited parts... (in the Invelos master database) and you would not be able to submit a modification of the inherited parts of the child profile.

| Posted: | | | | well, i envisage for example creating a new profile and going to the cast tab, and having a 'import data from other profile' button which would open up the standard 'add to collection' dialogue. You can then search for the film you're after, select it and then profiler would download that profile (if not already in your collection) and import the data.
of course as stephane suggests, it may be superior to create an imdb-type database of films with all relevant non-disc info (cast, crew, production year, studios etc) which can then have profiles of specific discs (containing barcode, disc id, sound and video formatting, extras etc) linked to that, although this method involves significantly rewriting the structure of the database i would imagine. |
