| Posted: | | | | Perhaps a dumb question, but here it goes.
Spider-Man 3 from Target UPC #043396-235359
The package is a slip case (I believe). From the side the DVD slides in, as does the 39 page Production Notes booklet.
The thing is that the actual DVD is the same one that can be bought separately. UPC #043396-225978. The DVD also comes with it's own slip cover. Inside the DVD case is the bonus dvd.
So we have an outer case with it's own UPC and the DVD that has the same UPC as the one that is available separately.
So would the outer case be treated as a slip case with no details about the film and the DVD itself's UPC be included as Box Set contents.
Would the Production Notes booklet be included as an Other Feature listed in the profile for the slip case or the regular DVD. Also what about the Bonus DVD? The bonus DVD is housed in the regular DVD case, but it's really part of the "Target Exclusive"
I hope that made sense. |

| Posted: | | | | This is not at all uncommon, Cubby, though usually handled differently. Typically slips are fairly limited, so quite often you will find independent UPCs. The reason for this is PRICE, I am going to rob you of your money fro the sliup, then when I am out of slips, I will announce a price reduction on the same title without the slip. They are independently listed. The Disc ID being the same is irrelevant.
No Boxset, it is ONLY ONE film. "The term "Box Set" is used to define any release that includes more than one film."
Production Notes are not on the disc itself, so yes they would be treated as Other Features, usually listed as Booklet or X-Page Booklet.
The Bonus Disc is treated just like any other Bonus disc.

| Posted: | | | | So I guess I should remove the regular 2 disc edition from my collection then, because I'll have 2 entries for Spider-Man 3 in my collection.
I think it's my first time coming across one of these so I was a little confused as to how to handle it. |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe I don't understand you correctly, but why would you have to remove the regular edition?
AFAIU, the Target Exclusive Edition has its own unique UPC?
If so, I would just enter the Target Exlusive UPC, scan the correct outer slip cover, add the booklet as an "other feature" and take all the DVD-Profile data from the pre-existing regular edition (maybe change the title according to the cover). Bonus features exclusive to the 2nd disc of the Target version are added the usual way.
That way, you have both DVDs properly profiled by their own UPCs, and others who own only one of them can find them in the online easily as well. | | | Lutz | | | Last edited: by Darxon |

| Posted: | | | | This is not different than the LotR DVD Gift sets, or the Hell Boy DVD Gift set, or any other exclusive that comes in it's own package.
Most people, I have talked to, create a profile for the outer 'exclusive' UPC package and contribute that...this way it is in the db for anyone who buys it. They then add the 'regular' UPC to that as a child profile. This allows your local to reflect what you actually purchased. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | That would be against the Rules, fine for local usage but not Contributable. I think you just forgot to mention that, pal.

Skip where does it say that you can't contribute the main boxset if it has a UPC? I don't have any that I have bought and have only created ones for grouping purposes but I would have thought that this is the reason that this feature was created? | | | Paul |

Skip If you had bothered to read my post, you would have seen that I DID mention that. The last line says, and I quote, " This allows your local to reflect what you actually purchased." If you want to call me out, at least call me out for something I actually said...or in this case didn't say. This makes it look like you are arguing for the sake of arguing. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I would do as Darxon suggested with the usual "verify data" comment to keep some people from jumping down someone's throat. | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. |

This is how most of my exclusives are (Ghost Rider target and 300 best buy, Clerks 2 bb is set as a custom box though). Just take all the disc info from the normal UPC profile, scan your covers and add whatever other info to other features since it's only one movie. |

Pauls: The topic is NOT about a Boxset, if it were you would be correct. The topic is about the Spiderman 3 SE (ONE Movie) ONLY. Since it is about ONE movie then Boxset Rules do NOT apply.
