it could be reviewed just like the dvds are to insure they are appropiate. You could make it an option to download them if you are worried about space. |

| Posted: | | | | As Pete noted Copyrights are the issue, any exchanging of Copyrighted material such as headshots and cast photos is subject to the laws involving Copyrights. Now Invelos could pay royalties involved in such things but Profiler would no longer be able to be sold $30. You are free to buld your own collection, which is what I have done, that is considered fair private use, but any swapping or exchanging is another story entirely.

| Posted: | | | | Another thing people don't seem to consider when making a request such as this is the amount of space these photos would take up on the host computers. Harmondd says "You could make it an option to download them if you are worried about space." That's fine for the user's space, but what about INVELOS' space? Setting aside the copyright issues for a moment, the amount of disc space at Invelos to house pictures of the casts of several hundred thousand movies, television shows, and the like would be enormous. And would you, harmondd, be willing to pay for your share of these costs? You seem to expect a lot for the mere pittance you've contributed by buying the desktop and mobile versions of Profiler.
I for one am unwilling to see cast photos added to Profiler. That's one thing that is readily available at IMDb - so why re-create the wheel just for the convenience of having it available in Profiler? Some things IMDb does well - like providing more detailed information about programming - and links to photos for much (though admittedly not all) of the casts of shows. And, the photos might not always be of the right person, so the validity is somewhat suspect.
So -- if you want cast photos, harmondd, go to IMDb. We definitely don't need them here. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |

| Posted: | | | | I certainly enjoy the headshots, but I'm content to build it myself. It's really not that much trouble if you go through and audit profiles, anyway.
There is a headshot database around here somewhere available from some users. It's got some flat wrong headshots in it, but it might be a place to start if you don't want to be bothered doing all of them yourself. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

Have you looked at this thread ? I added many headshots that come directly from screencaptures. Of course, that is only for the movies I have, but if everyone did the same, we could have something far better than IMDb (which is already correct...) | | | Images from movies |

Let's assume 100.000 images with 20kb each (you wouldn't need more for portrait shots), that makes 2GB. Fits on a USB memory stick. | | | Michael |
