I might be misunderstanding this request, but do we need this?
Don't all HD discs have a resolution of 1080p?
And we can already make a note of the disc format (HD/BR/DVD).

Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick.

I've got a handful that are only 1080i, The Architect BD in R1, Hotel Babylon and Robin Hood S1 in R2 HD DVD. I'm not sure how important it is to track this data though.

Nope, they just as well can be 720 or 480.
Okay 480 will most likely only be used for bonus features, but depending on how good the source material is a 720p-scan might considered for older movies.

Ok, I'm not au fait with HD technology so wasn't quite sure exactly what was being released. I suppose being able to track may be handy for people if they see a 720p version and want to know if there's a 1080 version out there somewhere before buying.
Either way, it can't hurt having somewhere to keep this data.

This is a good feature to have. Would this be master resolution or encode resolution? I would expect that most features would be encoded at lower resolution than the master but who knows some might be upscaled.

A lot of porn at this point is 720p.  I don't have any, but I've followed the threads at AVS on the topic.

We can already track if they're Blu-ray, HD DVD or DVD.

Seems to me that the HDNet releases were going to be 720p also; I don't know if they actually ended up going with that lower resolution, since I don't have any.

Considering that Toshiba recommends that you change the setting on its HD DVD players to match the disc's resolution, this would indeed be a useful feature to have.
