Hello!
If possible, I would like to see a function that allows me to just scan the barcode of the DVD with my barcode scanner and automatically add them to "Loaned to...".
Is that possible somehow?
Thanks!

It has been suggested many times before - and I would also like to see that feature.
Oddly enough, every time it is suggested, a lot of people (apparantly those who have no barcode scanner or never lend anything out) will start blabbing on about you being a cheapskate, not wanting to buy a proper program for your private Blockbuster. It seems that these people just can't get it into their heads, that some of us do lend out DVD's to our friends at no charge, and that we would just like it to be a little easier to mark the thing as loaned...

In other words: Don't hold your breath...

I am not quite sure what you are actually asking. The program is open, you scan a barcode and the Loaned to dialog opens?

That would be a bad idea IMHO.

What you currently can do: Alt+F10 opens the UPC window. Scan. and then use the "Loaded To" dropdown from the toolbar.

It would be bad if we are all stuck with it, but if it is implemented as an optional action occuring if a bar code is scanned I can't see it hurts anyone.

But there are other ways to implement it. For example a "loan dialog" where you can set the name of the loaner and then scan movies into a list - once you click OK it will set the loaned status on all the scanned DVDs to the specified loaner.

I wouldn't mind a feature where, if you scanned a barcode, the program would go to the correct profile without the need of Alt+F10 (although really, how hard is it to press them?). After which you can do what you like - loan status, edit, personalise.
This gives the feature much more flexibility than a specific "loan" command.

What I have in mind is the following:
I'd like to loan more than one DVD to someone, so I scan DVD A and flag the profile , scan DVD B and flag it, C, D etc ...

Now I'd like to mark them all loaned at once.

The first part (scan an flag) is already possible with the "UPC Filter Plugin", all I need is the menu entry "Collection -> Flagged -> Loan to:"

This is somethinhg I talked about a couple of years ago. Unless I am SEVERELY mistaken there is only one reason someone  would want to be able to do what he wants to do. Think about it, for those of us that loan to our friends it is going to be a title here or there, nothing at all that would require the ability to do this. If, however, you are running a business that would be another story entirely. We have had numerous people who have discovered profiler and make various requests that have more to do with running a business, than simply managing a Collection. Why wouldn't they ask, programs built to run a business run into the hundreds of dollars, NOT $30. In short, this program is not built for that kind of usage. As Rander suggested don't hold your breath.

Yes you are "SEVERELY mistaken". There are a few people that I will loan six or more DVDs at a time to. Entering the loan into DVDProfiler is the only easy way to keep track of it all. This program will only let you have one copy of any given DVD in your collection, so it is clear that no user is asking for this feature to run a rental shop.

Exactly what I am looking for, guys...either idea is fine.

Well...and just to make clear:  I'm a 20 year old guy from Germany and I certainly do NOT have a videostore and I am NOT looking for a program to run my store.
It's just like Rander and pdf256 say, we actually lend DVDs at no charge to friends....and just yesterday a friend of mine borrowed 8 DVDs from me. It has happened before that I did not get all of my DVDs back (from friends who were not so close) and to this day I don't know who kept my Freaky Friday DVD as I did not note  down who borrowed which DVD...
So no, I am not running a Blockbuster or anything, but I'm just a random DVD Collector who has no prob with lending DVDs to friends....more than 2 or 3 at a time.
Honestly, I don't know why people get jumped at for this request and why everybody (except a few) immediately suspect me of having a videostore but being too lazy or stingy to buy a loaning program. Sorry...but that's ridiculous.
I will try out the UPC Filter Plugin now.
