| Posted: | | | | I have this suggestion:
Since I live in Belgium (Europe) I only have PAL DVD's. Each time I create a new profile the system automaticly indicates NTSC as TV System. Sometimes I and other EU users forget to change this and it stays that way. We also have the problem that you cannot only contribute a Pal/NTSC change that's why I suggest to create an option (in the option menu) to change all DVD's to Pal or NTSC and a default option (Pal or NTSC).
Thanks. Let me now what you think. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | As far as the default option, I second this suggestion.
The changing of all DVDs would not be such a good idea IMHO, because I do have a number of DVDs, especially music DVDs, that are NTSC. Changing all DVDs in a collection would change these as well. I'm not sure if one can filter on PAL/NTSC, then one could change only those that are wrong. |

| Posted: | | | | A better option would be to leave this blank for all new profile, but you would have to select one or the other if you were to try to contribute it to the online database.
Similar thing that happens if you dont define a video format of Pan Fullscreen Widescreen
at the moment if you forget to indicate which of these the contribution screen informs you to select one.

As for high def DVD's, these allow for movies to be in 24p original frame rate, neither PAL nor N(ever) T(he) S(ame) C(olour).
This however shouldn't be a default for high def DVD's. In the Netherlands DFW has now released some titles which have the higher picture quality but do suffer from PAL sound speed up. (those who can read Dutch can try the review section on www.dvd.nl for the substantion of this claim, titles involved: 16 Blocks, Flyboys). BTW DFW published titles both on HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. It is not a format issue, but the choice of the distributor... | | | Eric
If it is important, say it. Otherwise, let silence speak. |

| Posted: | | | | I'd like to be able to default to PAL as well. Most of my discs are either R2 or R1, and since as far as I'm aware, PAL profiles cannot be submitted to the US or Canadian localities, that would prevent me from making such a mistake. Which I've done more than once. |

| Posted: | | | | Reading all this I agree: the default option would be the best. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | Yes I think the better solution is a default value for PAL/NTSC in function of the locality selectionned for the profile. Sometime the default option could be wrong but we will change it and I think it will avoid a maximum of errors. I had the case several times where I see my error when contribute it and need to remake my contribution for the movie or withdrawn it. | | | Regards Cyrille |
