| Posted: | | | | This might be kind of an odd one, and specific to TV series profiles, but what about some kind of check box or something to indicate whether an actor in a TV series is part of the regular series cast.
This one can get tricky for animated series, though, I suppose. |

Not sure what you mean or why. It can be tricky for any TV show, not all "regular" cast members will appear in every episode of a TV series, then how do you define "regular". There are recurring actors playing different roles, then there are recurring roles played by different actors and recurring roles which may show up 3 times a season. Trying to figure out what this information would tell me and why it would be of interest, maybe you're a step ahead of me.

| Posted: | | | | I'm going to assume that he is referring to the actors that would traditionally be credited in the opening credits of a TV series, as opposed to those that only appear in guest roles or in the closing credits, regardless of how often they appear.
But there are always exceptions to that practice, even on live action shows. Look at Battlestar Galactica as an example...
Michael Hogan, Aaron Douglas, Tahmoh Penikett, and a couple other regular cast members do not appear in the credits, but rather during the opening scenes of Act I when guest stars are listed.
So Skip does make a good point. How do you determine who is a regular cast member and who is in a recurring role definiteively and without enormous debate? |

| Posted: | | | | Sounds to me like he wants some kind of checkbox to go with certain actors/roles. Currently we have "uncredited" and "voice". In the case of a TV Series, I'm guessing he would like to have checkboxes for "Regular", "Guest Star", "Recurring", etc. to denote the types of roles.
On the one hand, I think it would be interesting information to have (similar to the Uncrediteds) but on the other hand I can certainly say I wouldn't want to have to deal with marking all the various roles. I can also think the documentation required would be... interesting.
Perhaps an alternate request/solution (and I've given this maybe 30 seconds of thought) would be to allow "tags" on actor/role combinations in a given profile. We already have tags on a per profile basis, what about tags on a actor/role basis? Then people could be open to mark them however they like and use it for whatever purpose they want. I'm thinking this would be a fairly complicated bit of programming and I think Ken has higher priority things to work on, but I can see the value in it for certain users. One of those cool to have, but most likely rarely used features. Just my opinion, though. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

| Posted: | | | | I had made a feature request some months ago for a "Top Billed" checkbox to separate out the opening cast from the rest of the chaff. Would improve stuff like the movie picker. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, Vega pretty much nailed it. I was just going through a couple of my TV series profiles, and I thought it would be nice to identify the principal cast, regular guests and special appearances.
I'd also like to see a better way to deal with animated shows like futurama where the cast is identified without trying a particular actor to a specific role. |

They give a compact view of cast and crew for TV series by listing each person only once together with the episodes they are credited in. Yes, that's already great! Maybe you could add an option to show the regulars only, id est cast appearing on all episodes? | | | -- Enry | | | Last edited: by White Pongo, Jr. |
