However the distributor change as the film is released in another country. So why not separate this kind of information. Two or more fields to mention the production companies, one field for the local company which releases the film. Just a thought. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not sure if I do understand your request. If you mean the movie production and distribution companies, then I don't mind them listed together. I would, however, very much like to have a set of fields to list the DVD production and distribution companies separately from those for the movie itself. I know that this has been requested numerous times - maybe Ken will listen this time. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | You could argue that 3 fields aren't enough. Nowadays all films are made by a combination of major and smaller production companies. In Europe it is even more complicated as it often is a Paneuropean initiative for the more more expensive movies and which involves also different countries. - So you could also argue that only one country of origin isn't very useful Two separate kinds of fields would make it clearer (between production companies and distributors). No more arguments of listing only the production companies as the number of fields are limited. | | | Last edited: by marnix64 |

LukTV - BuenaVista Selecta Vision - Now Universal, in old times BuenaVista JonuMedia - S.A.V. DeaPlaneta - S.A.v. Sogemedia - FOX ... |

I'm not aware that Ken Cole (Invelos) has talked in the forum about extending the studio fields, but I may have missed it. If he has, I would be grateful for a link to his post. Just in case, a reminder of the forum rules: Quote: You may not use the Invelos forums to: Impersonate a representative of Invelos, or make claims of "inside information" related to Invelos as a company, or Invelos products. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks, Ken, for chiming in.
I lean slightly towards a separate list. Since we enter full studio names and not "normalized" ones, there is almost no overlap in content between the two lists.
Also, FHarlock made a valid point regarding DVD production/distribution. We should carefully consider what we want to show up here, or allow for multiple entries.
Finally, may I point out that the Filter window for Studios (and then DVD distributors) is in desperate need of a text search to complement the checkboxes, just as it is already possible for the Cast/Crew filter. | | | Matthias | | | Last edited: by goodguy |

| Posted: | | | | On the other hand, sharing the existing studio list would make the initial data entry for the new field(s) easier, because it contains already many DVD distributors, which then could be simply picked from the existing list without the need to create new entries.
If, as suggested above, the Filter is updated to allow (substring) text searches, a big single list becomes almost as easily manageable as two separate ones. | | | Matthias |

If you ask me, I would say a distinct list. And as the DVD distributor has nothing to do with creating the content itself, I think adding them next to the DVD Release Date in the General Info window would be best.
