| Posted: | | | | I know it's not completely accurate, but it might be helpful when looking at a particular movie to see how many people have it in their online collections.
This would help when editing profiles etc to know if your working on a version that your the only one with, or whether thousands of other people are going to be impacted by your change.
I relaise it's not completely accurate, as not all users upload to the online system, but it would give an indication at least
Any other thoughts?

| Posted: | | | | Not sure about this one. I'd say it doesn't matter how many people will be affected by your changes: either you're going to contribute your changes and hence they have to be accurate and complying with the Contribution Rules, or you will be keeping your changes local, and then by definition the outside world doesn't matter anyway. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | I like this proposal. The reason is not for contribution purposes but out of curiosity. |

| Posted: | | | | I support this feature request along with more statistical information about the online system and contributions generally. There used to be a statistics page available for DVD Profiler version 2 that disappeared with the move to version 3. This might be something that could be worked into My Profiler Plus as a value add. @TommyG, In my experience of Region 4 the number of users who own a DVD always seems to be about two or three since I never seem to get more votes than that on my contributions. Of course, nobody might like my taste in films. | | | Last edited: by Telecine |

| Posted: | | | | From a trivia/curiosity point of view I really like the idea, as long as it's anonymous. As Telecine says, why not have a statistics webpage full of all these statistics? |

| Posted: | | | | I often notice movies I add to my collection that nobody else does any updates for, then when I search the online database I find there is another copy of the movie with a slightly different barcode that has numerous updates.
I've double-checked that I did actually enter the correct barcode, and haven't just added a movie to the database that doesn't actually exist.
Absolutely would be anonymous, maybe whilst adding a movie to your collection show an extra column of the count of users |

| Posted: | | | | Before I discovered this program, I used two or three online services where much (not all) of this information could be drawn upon. One site that I liked nearly as much as this one -- one I kept adding my DVDs to (for a while) even after I bought this one -- had a simple listing of the quantity of each DVD owned by the users. It was fun to discover a DVD that you, alone, were the only owner in that database. You could also look up the most owned titles in the database. Again, no users' names were revealed, but you could look through a list of the 100 most popular DVDs in that database each day or wekk or how often they updated it. It would also show you your most popular actors and directors, as well as the most popular ones in the database. That was one reason I began collecting Buster Keaton DVDs -- both as an actor and as a director. I smiled the day he bested Hitchcock in my most owned directors list!
Yeah, this is fun stuff to evaluate as you collect DVDs -- looking at what is popular that you refuse to own; what is unpopular that you love to own, etc. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | ken has in the past divulged tidbits of this info, so we know its possible for him to extract that data, however i suspect the reason for this lack of publication may in fact have more to do with not wanting to divulge the number of accounts... though i would take a percentage... x % of users in R1 own Y title...
if not... head over to dvd empire, they track current best sellers, as well as all time best sellers.... | | | -JoN |
