| Posted: | | | | I currently use DVD Profiler to keep track of my DVD collection and Collectorz.com Game Collector for my video game collection. However, I prefer the features available on the DVD Profiler program. Additionally, the information provided through this program is more accurate than the details available through the Game Collector program (largely due to the community support). Anyway, as a result, I would love to see Invelos create a program like DVD Profiler, but for video games. I'm curious if anyone else agrees. |

| Posted: | | | | I think this was answered correctly by mediadogg Quoting mediadogg Quote: I think the perspective that you are missing (and you're not the first by any means) is that the real power of DVDPro lies not only in it's cataloging functions. DVDPro consists of a bundle of powerful metaphors tied to GUI tools that make it easy to manage a library of mainly movies in DVD format. But even that is just the tip of the iceberg. The online database, hosted by Invelos, and diligently populated by a community of devoted users, makes registering and maintaining a large repository of DVD media a breeze. Pop in the DVD, or type in a title snippet, or barcode - and BAM! - profile filled out (and updated as improvements are available).
There is nothing else needed for you use DVDPro to track anything, including pencils. Just create a manual profile, and fill it out. But then DVDPro is reduced to not much more than a MS/Access datadase. The reason I am going into this detail, is that I fell into the same "trap." Man, this program is so good, it could track anything. Then I started using it - and discovered that the program is just a part of the story.
I hope this helps you understand some of the other comments - and maybe even a bit of frustration.
Anyway, glad you're lovin' DVDPro! You'll find the complete discussion hereSometimes "Search" is your friend | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Actually, that kind of is part of he reason I want to see anothe program. I never suggested it would be breeze to make another version of the software for games. However, the strong communiting, the online databased hosted by Invelos, and the ability to save a copy of your database to the net is some of the reasons I would love a game database. There are just so many features and so many community members helping to maintain the program, that I desperately wish they would have a program for games. Though, I also have about twice as many video games as I do DVDs, so it would really come in handy for me. |

| Posted: | | | | Welcome "tigerous"! Honestly, I think this won't happen. DVD Profiler is more or less nearly a "one-man-job" at this time, so I don't think we should expect any complete new program in the near future. I believe at the moment Ken has enough to do with the new 3.2 and the support for Disc-IDs from BluRays and HD-DVDs. |
