| Posted: | | | | I saw some vague mention of this a year ago but not recently.
DVD Profiler needs more differentiation in the number of channels for the HD (Blu-ray) formats and between the DTS-HD formats:
Dolby Digital TrueHD Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Dolby TrueHD 7.1
DTS-HD DTS-HD HR 5.1 DTS-HD HR 7.1 DTS-HD MA 5.1 DTS-HD MA 7.1 PCM 7.1
The most common of these are shown in bold. I've so far seen two PCM 7.1 tracks (3:10 to Yuma and Shoot 'Em Up) and one DTS-HD HR 5.1 track (Basic Instinct). The remaining ones I haven't seen but they're theoretically possible so should be included.
Also note that Dolby's lossless format is officially known as "Dolby TrueHD", not "Dolby Digital TrueHD". | | | One man's rip-off is another man's homage. |

| Posted: | | | | Another note: The DTS abbreviations, though common, should probably be expanded since this is how they are listed on cover sheets:
DTS-HD High Resolution 5.1 DTS-HD High Resolution 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 | | | One man's rip-off is another man's homage. |

| Posted: | | | | Good catch. I just watched American Psycho and noticed that it uses DTS-HD HR 6.1. So for each of the four (PCM, DTS-HD HR, DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD) there'd be 2.0, 2.1, 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1. | | | One man's rip-off is another man's homage. |

| Posted: | | | | Would it be easier to go from the two column (Content / Format)
to a three column system of
Content / Codec / Channels ? | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | That would be ideal. I'd thought about this, but I was afraid that it might cause compatibility problems between database expansion and users' version transition. On the other hand, I hadn't thought about what you suggested: adding two new fields in the database instead of inheriting the Format field. That would eliminate potential compatibility issues if the current version is able to ignore fields it doesn't recognize. | | | One man's rip-off is another man's homage. |

| Posted: | | | | I asked this also in Beta-forum, with no aswers.
My opinion is that this would be really good feature upgrade. So lets keep up the fuzz also in here.
What is status for this? Will we get more HD Audio options in 3.5.0, e.g. Dolby TrueHD 7.1 ??? Or are we stick to codec as only option?
NewEnglanders suggestion for three column system gets my vote also. It is simple and flexible. |

| Posted: | | | | I have to agree, Casablanca HD-DVD (Dolby Digital Plus 1.0) looks really silly with all those 5.1 icons. I imagine the upcoming Blu-Ray edition will be 1.0 as well. |

I imagine the upcoming Blu-Ray edition will be 1.0 as well. This is also true with some DVDs. "Match Point" has DTS 1.0, and it appears with 5 channels icons. I also support the idea to have separate fields for channels. | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | There are some great audio option improvements in 3.5, thanks for the work! I like the idea of a three column audio selection too. It will reduce the number of codecs listed and allow for more accurate listing of audio options on titles.
I wonder how difficult the SQL script (not sure what type of database is being used) would be to rewrite the format field, for example, of all titles in the online database with Dolby Digital Stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1 to just Dolby Digital then add the appropriate column for channels and default the field to 2.0 or 5.1 or some other default. Anything with a PCM 5.1 index in the format field -> PCM in the format/codec field and add 5.1 to the channel field...etc. But these are suggestions without any knowledge of how the database schema looks. |
