| Posted: | | | | I just brought a new 32 inch Magnavox HDtv and it is so awesome. There a channel called HDNET2 plus HBO and ShowTime in HD.
The movies are awesome!! When I said in another post don't rebuy in HD I didn't know what I was saying. This is my first HD TV and I would say buying your DVD collection over in HD is a must.
Only issue I have is Blu-ray DVD's cost way too much depending on the movie. They won the war I would have thought they would drop prices to get people to buy more. Blu-Ray players are $300+ I found some Samsung models for $265. | | | Last edited: by Randall_Lind |

| Posted: | | | | Are you using an Up scaling dvd player? I have been very pleased with the quality that I'm getting with my dvd player now. And I've only bought 5 blu ray discs so far.. (of course I haven't been able to watch them yet..) | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | anything with the Reon chip does a very good job upscaling. im running the Sammy BD-UP5000, and SD looks awesome on it. The Onkyo 875 has it as well, though folks have been complaining about the lack of adjustment options for a video chip in an HD receiver. I'm watching Serenity on HD DVD at the moment |

| Posted: | | | | I don't have a DVD player but on my computer. My 2nd Cyberhome 300 player dies lasted about 14 months then stopped working one day. I thought about getting an upconvert player but seems that the $100 would be best used towards a Blu-Ray player. I seen some Samsung models I believe the 1500 one for $265 on Ebay. I owe my friend $250 for my TV. It cost me $628.72 that included buying an HDMI cable. My magnavox is hereI also owe him $25 so we rounded it to $650 I gave him $400 and we wrote up an agreement for me to pay at least $50 a month if not more until I pay it off. Then after that I plan to get some type Blu-Ray player. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Pauls, there is no reason to replace your entire collection. Any good Blu-ray player should upscale your standard DVDs. If it doesn't, don't buy it.
I am not planning on replacing much in my collection. In fact, I am still buing standard DVDs. For some movies, there just isn't any reason to pay the extra for an HD version. | Posted: | | | | I wouldn't have gotten HD DVD anyway. I like to see a clear winner first. I don't see the point in investing a lot of $$ just to have the tech you like go belly up. |

JMHO I am in total agreement with your sentiments. There are a few movies that I think justify purchasing an HD version, but only a few. | | | Graham |

The only ones I have are where the blu ray was cheaper than the SD (1 disc) and where the others have very good effects or picture (or a favourite film) - something which would be enhanced by being on HD (and where it was a reasonable cost!). So my blu ray collection is Underworld (unrated) - Good effects Blade runner (5 disc collection) - Fav film / good effects Fifth element - Good effects Cloverfield - cheaper than SD Replacement killers - Fav film | | | Paul | | | Last edited: by pauls42 |
