| Posted: | | | | Still a PS3 exclusive in Japan, where Microsoft needs a break-out game.
Also, Versus XIII is still PS3 exclusive. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | It is a good thing for English speaking countries. It's bad for Micorosoft as they need this to get into the japanese market.
The other bad thing for Microsoft is, it'll be out about 6 months after the PS3 version, unless they (Square Enix) do a port. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | The article says same Day and Date as the PS3, so there won't be any 6 month delay with the XBOX 360!!! However no exact release date was mentioned as of yet for the Square-Enix title!!!
I don't really think Microsoft is truly going to capture much of the Japanese market and I don't believe they are truly that concerned either!!! | | | My Collection!!! |

| Posted: | | | | I was going by this that I read at playstationlifestyle.net (Ended up there looking for info on the new PSP f/w update) and saw the link to thiis... Quote: According to Kotaku, Final Fantasy XIII will be an exclusive for the PS3 in Japan, and there will only be an Xbox 360 version in “English-speaking territories”. Apparently also, Japan will get the release long before any other region so you may want to choose to import yours if there is no region-lock. Once it is released in Japan, they will then start developing the 360 version. I have no idea to the cred of this site, just that I read it there. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

| Posted: | | | | I see no reason to doubt that Japan will see Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3 long before the US will see it on either console, I believe Square-Enix does this often. As I live in the US, as I said once already, I don't really give 2 cents what happens in Japan!!! | | | My Collection!!! |

| Posted: | | | | MS did a good job obtaining FFXIII. Now, it probably won't be a major system seller for the PS3 or the X360. I blame Square Enix for stating "only on Playstation 3" and going back on their word. However, we do know that 3rd party exclusives are supposedly going extinct. Proof of this is in the following exclusive titles MS has lost: Oblivion Blazing Angels Lost Planet Saints Row Eternal Sonata Prey Condemned Overlord Far Cry Sacred Bioshock And, Sony has lost the following exclusives: FF (not FFXIII Versus) GTA DMC Assasins Creed Beautiful Katamari Fatal Inertia Virtual Fighter Star Ocean Since Sony's in-house development team is larger than MS and Nintendo combined, they don't need to pay hundreds of millions of dollars for exclusives. Sony will just create new titles. Plus, they still have the following that can't go multiplatform: God of War Resistance Twisted Metal Motorstorm Killzone Shadow of the Colossus ICO Syphon Filter Jak and Daxter SOCOM Beyond Good and Evil GT | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles | | | Last edited: by Ascended_Saiyan |

Maybe Sony owns the franchise rights bur Jak and Daxter is a Naughty Dog game and as far as i know Sony doesn't own Naughty Dog (even though i think hey do distribute their games). Resisttance is a Insomniac game and hey said they'll continue to be a PS3 exclusive developer but they are also not owned by Sony. I'm not sure about Motorstorm either, does Sony own the title or also the studio developing it? I can't wait for a new GoW and Ico/Shadow of the Collosus though. Paul |

Paul You are right. Naughty Dog and Insomniac are 2nd party developers that share Sony in-house info back and forth on Cell programming. Sony owns the titles though. Sony bought the studio behind Motorstorm right after it went platinum. I can hardly wait for a GoW, ICO, and/or a Shadow of the Colossus sequel either. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

| Posted: | | | | As Paul quoted it I'm going to have to correct the error. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is also being developed for the 360 and is not Sony exclusive, but then Ubisoft are publishing it and last time I checked Sony didn't own them. (Edit should say there is slightly more evidence to support this than it being a PS3 exclusive and that's only that Michael Ancel said it before the official announcement which is simply a trailer ). | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Lithurge |

| Posted: | | | | Here's the deal, so it doesn't boil down to anyone thinking I am bashing SONY PS3!!!
I got an email from Gamespot linking me to E3 news and I read the article about FFXIII. Just 24 hours prior a friend told me this game would be exclusive to PS3 as I was discussing with him the pros and cons of whether I should buy a PS3 right now since I have yet to pull the trigger!!!
I am a big Final Fantasy fan and I own an XBOX 360 so the news makes me happy!!! Someday I will pull the trigger and buy the PS3, but right now I have other more pressing needs with the money and as my personal preferences go, I don't see enough pros for me to make the PS3 plunge!!!
When I logged in here yesterday I didn't see anything about the announcement so I posted it for its newsworthyness, the double thumbs up is because now I can buy it and play it on my XBOX 360 unless I find a PS3 this holiday at a great must buy price (for the record, the XBOX 360 was a gift).
As for the Japanese SONY statistics that some people feel are important, well they aren't important too me, as they do not impact my life in anyway. I am not a pro-Xbox guy nor am I a PS3 hater (despite my disdain for Sony, I still love my PSONE and my PS2), I am pro-game quality guy who seriously hates exclusivity!!!
Now, debate on all you like... | | | My Collection!!! | | | Last edited: by Calidain |

| Posted: | | | | Won't bash you at all. Your reasons for being happy are valid. Just a little off topic note.. Sony announced today that they'll be conentrating on the 80 GB PS3 (but it won't have backwards compatibility) for $399. It's replacing the 40GB model that has been discontinued, at least in North America. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |
